Yeh I know. I just wanna see how it plays out either way.Edmonton isn’t really in the mix according to CJ or Frank.
CBJ are the sellers here and there's absolutely no way they are "listening to offers" on their 20 y.o high upside RD if there wasn't a situation brewing in Colombus.A 1st as in MTL's 1st, such a late pick as CGY's makes absolutely zero sense for Columbus. Waddell wants an offer he can't refuse or he'll gladly wait, simply the best offer available right now won't do it.
I've been saying the whole time it's a McGroarty for Yager or Drysdale for Cutter type deal.
I understand you might not be familiar with the very complicated conditions on the FLA/CGY pick, but the best realistic scenario is for CGY's pick to be in the 11-16 range. If CGY's pick is top 10 we're getting FLA's pick. And Aaron Portzline reported what I just said. He also noted that he doesn't think it's as imminent as others seem to think. Listening to what Waddell himself has been saying, he sounds like a guy who is not in a hurry to trade Jiricek.
The 2025 class is also considered weak. Where would Jiricek have gone in a re-draft?
To your second, and actually interesting, point: no. Going into the season, I might have thought Calgary's pick had higher value than Montréal's. If CBJ thinks Calgary's pick will be top 10, then that's a different story. The original post said around pick 22, so that's what I responded. My point is that if Waddell trades Jiricek for pick 22 and unremarkable prospect, I don't believe that benefits the Blue Jackets and thus goes against Waddell's motivation for even listening to trade offers in the first place.
Ducks. To make up for Zegras character issues.Juicek for Zegras? Who adds?
To make up for Zegras character issues.
Found the problem. So where did this guy go to? Frank said done in 24-48 hours 2 days ago lol
Johnston and Zegras as the Columbus 1-2 Centres for the next decade. Pretty good to build around.Ducks. To make up for Zegras character issues.
That actually could be a good trade for CBJ though.
Seravelli is high on doughnuts and double double lattes.,Servelli said if he’s not traded in 2024 he will be traded within the next few years. E4.
Johnson is settling in nice at wing. Plus there's that Fantilli guy. With Lindstrom waiting in the wings. Don't really see Zegras as a Waddells type player but who knows.Johnston and Zegras as the Columbus 1-2 Centres for the next decade.
Savoie is a nothing prospect. Not a fan of his future. Juricek should return a Zegras level pkayer. If not Zegras then Wright would be good.Johnson is settling in nice at wing. Want nothing to do with Savoie. Throw him on the Hoglander pile.
Zegras, who hasn't put up a point against a top-16 team this year, is not the move. Jiricek isn't at that stage of "change of scenery" that Zegras is in, and he might never get to that point.Savoie is a nothing prospect. Not a fan of his future. Juricek should return a Zegras level pkayer. If not Zegras then Wright would be good.
Or Juricek continues to drop in value and a Zegras offer would be beyond what he could return? Zegras has proven what he can do in the league. Juricek hasn’t.Zegras, who hasn't put up a point against a top-16 team this year, is not the move. I would not trade Savoie for Zegras as an Oiler fan.Savoie is a nothing prospect. Not a fan of his future. Juricek should return a Zegras level pkayer. If not Zegras then Wright would be good.
The trade would be, value wise, Willander and their 1st (late)
I'd put the chances of Willander being better than Jiricek at far from "huge". 80/20 to Jiricek
Chevy has never done that with a prospect in the AHL. Jiricek could easily hurt his value which atm is still quite high.CBJ should just stay patient and wait for someone to pay their price. They have control of the player for several years still at this point and it's not like he's sitting out. No reason to sell him for pennies on the dollar here, someone will pay up eventually for a big RHD with his pedigree.
Chevy has been in this position several times with Winnipeg but he always gets a good return since he grinds it out.
Keep the 20+ yr tradition in CBJ alive of never having had a no.1 centerJohnston and Zegras as the Columbus 1-2 Centres for the next decade. Pretty good to build around.

A guy who has too big of an ego to play in the AHL and is not good enough for the NHL. He is not a coachable kid. Blue Jackets would be good to get anything decent for him
