Pick needs to stay in the 20's.
I've done their skating classes, they REALLY focus on edge work. They will have to focus on pivoting. He’s not good at transitioning from closing a play down into backwards skating/defending. Additionally his backwards skating is poor enough that it impacts his gap control (looser gaps due to fear of getting beat wide). It’s gonna take time but I think he’s got an NHL future. Not sure why we “gave up” on him so soon, makes me think his agent asked for a trade.
Nino is a really good comparison. NYI's fans painted him as a spoiled, arrogant, brat. When he got here he was anything but, and has turned out to be well liked just about everywhere he has gone. Why did the Isles trade Nino?
This team needed a Top 4 RD to replace Spurgeon in the next 3 years. Bringing in a former 6th overall pick that is two years into his development makes a lot of sense for our timeline. Defensemen take more time to develop too, so there’s still value in the fact that he was taken 6th overall & was considered a Top 10-15 prospect just a year ago.
Think of trading a late 1st, 2nd, and 2 3rds for the 6th overall pick in any draft. I’d be willing to bet it works out for the team getting that player most of the time.
I trust Judd Brackett:look at this in reverse, IF jiricek was so good why would they trade him? people say he skates slow and his stats are nothing to brag about. what about his game makes him worth anywhere near what we paid? who cares he was 6th overall.
Brackett said:“He is an average skater, but it’s good enough,” Brackett said. “You’re not going to look at him and go, ‘Oh, jeez!’ It’s good enough. And as he gets older and gets more and more of man strength, I think it’ll be fine. It wasn’t an issue in his draft year. It was a little bit of strength-related. But, if there’s an area that’s behind, I’d agree his skill, his compete, his hockey sense are all better than his skating.”
Isles were still owned by Charles Wang and with the rookie contracts back in the day his cap hit was close to 3 million but only had to pay him 900K so they kept him up to stay above the floor. Why did the Isles trade Nino?
Have you done that at your job?of coarse my opinion is judd was just agreeing with his boss. billy should put his job on the line and say if im wrong about jiricek i'll step down. (bet he won't)

I'm thinking it would not be smart for anyone to do what you suggested.he's in charge, i was never in that position before. ps millions of $ are at stake based on his decisions don't you think that makes a difference? im realistic. others here drink the coolaid.
This is a fairly low risk hockey move. The team Guerin has assembled has 4 regulation losses in 24 games. He is under no pressure to do anything other than what he’s doing. I don’t like him at all but it’s tough to hammer him over this when the team seems to be buying in.he's in charge, i was never in that position before. ps millions of $ are at stake based on his decisions don't you think that makes a difference? im realistic. others here drink the coolaid.

Relax sheesh, it’s a medium(ish) risk-high reward move. It will take time before anything can truly be drawn from it.he's in charge, i was never in that position before. ps millions of $ are at stake based on his decisions don't you think that makes a difference? im realistic. others here drink the coolaid.
That Nino comparison is so good. Isles were completely done with him and he wasn't going to amount to anythingWhy did the Isles trade Nino?

Honestly, I view it as low risk / high reward. We have a deep prospect pool so the picks wont be missed and Hunt, while i think will be a solid 3rd pairing d man (and can fill in on the 2nd when needed) isn't something that can't be replaced.Relax sheesh, it’s a medium(ish) risk-high reward move. Why not have some cool-aid and kick the feet up?
