I dont think Adams moves the needle enough to make them a threat in the AFC. Contenders trade 3rd round picks for rentals; not fringe playoff teams.

Their issue isn't a lack of weapons, it's their O line. Just feels like a waste of a 3rd round pick because the Jets are likely a WC team at best, and even that's looking bleak.

That being said, Douglas knows he only has one decent year with Rodgers. He's been backed into a corner. I personally love watching the Jets mortgage their future on a team that isn't top-5 in the AFC, but they're back on the dreaded ride known as the QB carousel after Rodgers retires, so I see why Douglas is doing everything he can to turn the ship around this season because it's going to be rough sailing once Rodgers is gone (if he even makes it through the season; he's been getting wrecked behind that line)

What 'future' did the New York Jets have to mortgage/throw away? They were and will continue to be the same shitty Jets they were before/after (and during) Arod.

Everyoen know this thing with Rodgers was a very short window and was a shot in the dark, but one worth taking if you are the Jets.

The Jets have most of their draft picks in the coming years anyway, so it's not like they threw a ton of draft capital away to build said mediocre team.

That ship has long since sailed though.

They've built the entire organization around making Rodgers happy, they're not going to stop until he's gone.
The culture is dead. Adams called the team out after his first game. Rodgers doesn't appear to be a good leader, and now he can't 'get away' with it because he's no longer elite.

I still think this trade was a dumb move. They weren't a Devante Adams away from making noise. Waste of a third, but Douglas dug his own grave when he handed the keys to Rodgers. The moment they picked Hackett as their OC- I knew they were in trouble.

Can the Jets flip Adams? Yes,. but they reworked his deal to push a few million in cap charges into 2025. If they only get back a 3rd, they would have eaten a few million of dead cap space to have him in the lineup for 3 games. Which would be a Jets move.

Looks good for Adams, wanted out and he got his wish to even a worse situation. The Raiders are gonna strip the shit out of the rug and remove the inmates from the asylum under the new Brady part time ownership.

But as for Adams, you f***ed yourself into a better situation. If you want out, get out to a better team instead of pleasing your ass stank buddy Rodgers.

You have more confidence in Mark Davis listening to Brady than I do. I hope you are right. Mark is an idiot. Guy hired McDaniels for no reason….
That regime traded for Adams turning a 1st and 2nd into a 3rd and drafted Wilson who was injured at the time and still hasn’t performed great this season that justified his draft position basically redshirting him. They drafted Young whom 2 defense coordinators/coaches who were on the staff in Graham and Pierce opted to cut next season.

I love Tom Brady more than a 38 year old straight man should, and he's going to do nothing for the Raiders. Tom is the same type of player that'd call for Davante Adams. Hell, the Pats brought in Brown on his word. You need smart football minds to make a real team, and have a 'guy' like Brady let the coach treat him like your 55th guy on a Tuesday to win - that was Brady's biggest effect.

Look at behind the scenes stuff with the Pats - half of it is some random saying "Did Belichick just shit all over Tom Brady!?@ I better shape up'.

Everything begins at the top. Hire good people and let them do their job.
Don't hire Zeigler and McDaniels while giving McDaniels say over roster decisions. What did he ever do to earn that? I get Gruden getting that to come out of the booth, but Reid doesn't demand that.

Raiders paying for the NE decisions. Deal 1st and 2nd for Adams. Draft an injured Wilson and in year 2, have yet to see anything great from him. Drafted DE Young, whom the returning DC and LB coach Pierce, now HC decide to cut. Eating monster dead cap hits for 1 year worth from Jones, Jimmy G, Hoyer. While losing 2 embarrassing games to Jeff Saturday's first ever coaching game and Bagent's first start.

I don't think Brady will help the Raiders at all and he probably doesn't care as long as he's making money.

Also, Mark being Mark, gave Brady and co a big discount. Market value of the team should have been $6 billion minimum and pushing $7 billion, thus Brady's 5% should cost him $300 mill. I think Mark gave them a discount at like a $3.5 billion valuation. Thus, Brady in for $175 mill. Basically half off.

Brady didn't invest in the Raiders just to make money, he put his reputation on the line to make this work. Let him and Richard Seymour, whom by the way also owns a stake in Raiders ownership, make football decisions.

Mark Davis can be a baby daddy to his 26 year old girlfriend for all I care, get him away from Raiders football decisions cause the ones he makes are f***ing terrible.

What football execs does Brady know. All of his time was in NE or TB for 3 years. BB ran everything in NE. I don't think Brady will be a passive owner, but I don't think he's going to be calling the shots there either.

GM/HC/OC. Decisions on this trio has to be made in the off-season. Should the team trust them? OC, for sure is out IMO. But, getting a good one like the caliber of Swolik (or the next one like him and Ben Johnson) is dependent on who they will have at QB in 2025. If they don't secure a top pick in the draft, it's not a great job. Same goes for the Giants, Browns, Dolphins (can you really bank on Tua's health?), Panthers, and so forth?

Best jobs with a QB are likely to be Cincy and Jax. But, Cincy, it's the owner and in Jax, does Trevor have it? If Doug Pedersen didn't work, who will? Right now, I don't love the potential openings if I'm one of Johnson/Swolik.

How the hell can Brady spend the time necessary to make football decisions and all that comes with it when he's probably got a gazillion other engagements? Running football operations is a full-time job and more.

I agree. The most vital decision is at the top. Once you decide on that you let them do their job. You’re not out at the combine or watching film on college prospects.

I don't think he put his reputation on the line at all. It's just an investment for him and there's really no reason to think him or Seymour for that matter will be making football decisions. I also wouldn't just assume they're good at making football decisions just because they were great players. At most they might have a say in who the next GM is but that's likely a ways off and I'm sure Davis will have final say.

I certainly agree with you on Davis although I couldn't care less about him dating a 26 old. Most old single rich dudes tend to do the same.

Kind of wild a GM thought the Jets were an old WR away from the playoffs. These are moves contenders make, not a team needing a massive change in momentum to even make the playoffs. Waste of a 3rd.

In his defense he’s very busy playing terrible Quarterback
