Yeah, in court, which until they are, they are not. Since you're not making any sense, I don't know what else you're trying to say. Fair use is more a doctrine of law. Vice does not need Vince's permission to use his IP provided it is used properly under these auspices, of which there is yet to be evidence that they are not. If by 'Vince gave them his blessing' you mean that Vince isn't trying to stop them because he and his legal don't thin they have a case to stop them. That doesn't even mean he is cooperating, he's just not doing anything tangible to stop them.
Well, the only info I found was a producer saying they record YouTube footage off a television, that’s from a Cornette podcast, and even then Last questioned it and the producer shut that line of questioning down.

Maybe it’s gorilla journalism, but I doubt it.

But can you please show me where Mick Foley isn’t signed to the WWE?

Nobody cares.

It’s like saying Germany won’t let the media make shows about the Holocaust.

The WWE is bigger then Benoit and Owen Hart. Tragic events, but neither do anything to mess with Vinces bottom line.

Show of hands;

How many people stopped watching wrestling because of a DSotR episode?

None? Thought so
A DSOTR episode basically destroyed Ric Flair's career.

Who the hell cares about what Foley is doing? He only has a legends deal. He wasn't on and off TV like Ric Flair was. He gets his royalties paid for up front. Ric Flair had a different kind of legends deal because he's Ric Flair and they made a deal for his appearances.

You said he wasn’t in the WWE.

You made a mistake. It happens

Does that matter? He's not on their payroll and he's not working for them unless he shows up one day (which he's not obligated to do). He gets royalties paid up front. He gets a check like Bobby Bonilla does from the Mets. You broke your leg but at least the pinky toe is ok, like who cares?

No, he’s still on the payroll.

Legends contract= on the payroll. If you are repping WWE and getting paid to do it, you are on the payroll.

You made a mistake. It’s ok.

Yeah, well you're talking about things that are either wrong or don't matter so yeah now I'm looking them up since no one cares what Foley's status with WWE is since he isn't actually doing anything and hasn't for years. But he is not working and is not a talent for them. He gets a baseline payout when he does appearances for them (which is mutually agreed upon), which I guess isn't enough to stop him from showing up at other independents, which talent under contract cannot do.

Ok now you lost credibility.

Jerry Lawler is still under contract with the WWE and does independent bookings and was doing independent bookings thru out the attitude era.

Booker T showed up at independent shows while still under contract.

Let’s not talk about the Smokey Mountain talent exchanges back in the day

Or Bret Hart wrestling Funk in one of his retirement matches.

etc,etc,etc

Just wow

Lawler does them because he has permission to, and always has. WWE was doing talent exchanges as recently as Evolve including airing one of their shows.

Kairi Sane, however, wanted to appear at the Stardom anniversary show and was told she couldn't.

Do I know if they approved Mick to show up in GCW? No, and I don't care. I'm pretty sure though that if they could stop him, he wouldn't be seen in the same ring as Jon Moxley.

Um…. Stardom isn’t an independent company.

Try again

Ok buddy, you know everything. Go ask Nick Khan if WWE gives a shit who owns them. They tried making the same deal with New Japan that they would with anybody else.

What does reading stuff off the internet have to do with wrestlers taking independent dates outside WWE, again?

I cannot take anything you say seriously when it comes to pro wrestling. Sorry

He lost his big sponsorship deal and what was obviously going to be a gig with AEW, all over a show "nobody cares about".
Yeah but….

How did it tarnish his career?

The guy is considered one of the GOATS. One episode from a TV show didn’t change that.

Benoit murdered his family. People to this day put him on the short list of best ever.

Dynamite Kid was a scumbag, still one of the most influential wrestlers of all time.

I don't f***ing know, you went out of your way to talk about whether or not Mick Foley was under contract or not like anybody truly cared.

If you're not going to take 'seriously' something that someone who actually frequents this wrestling forum, I'd suggest leaving it. Is there something that makes you an authority on it? Because I'm posting the news here most of the time.

So nobody cares about Mick Foley, but people care about some Nick Khan straw man?

As for authority, yes. And it’s one reason why I don’t frequent this forum because I do indeed have inside knowledge on certain things and do not wish to get into a pissing contest with fans over trivial crap that’s irrelevant in the big picture.

If you are providing news, as you say, but are also providing falsehoods like Mick Foley not under contract with the WWE, wrestlers not allowed to take independent bookings while being independent contractors, or bringing up Kari Sane as an example without knowing if she had an exclusivity clause in her contract to, idk, not wrestle for the competition while in Japan, then if you are not providing links to actual legitimate sources, then I don’t know what to tell you here.

I’ll DM you a link to my stream when I have Meltzer on again. Deal?

Can you have him explain to you how the "Bret Screwed Bret" stuff you pushed earlier is complete bullshit because it appears as though you missed that?

If you owned a lambo, and you let somebody barrow it, and when it came time to get it back, are you ok with them giving you orders on how to get it back? Or are you just gonna take it?

The only person who ended up looking like a fool was Bret Hart.

I'm not providing news, I'm just posting when there is news.

Obviously I did know about Kairi, since I knew they didn't let her do it. She still does active work for the company. You, I guess, don't know she wasn't trying to wrestle on the show, only appear live. Unless that's information you had personally. Maybe you did! Maybe you misspoke here. I don't know what Dave told you but that was going on, he only said that she wanted to appear at the show, and they wouldn't let her. We all knew that at the time. There hasn't been any indication from her otherwise as to what her intentions were. I think she sent a video instead. I subscribe to Dave, so I don't know what your relationship is to him unless you're Garret Gonzalez or Jason Agnew. I'm pretty confident you're not Bryan Alvarez.

There's no E in Smoky Mountain Wrestling by the way.

His days of getting bookings for appearances and promotional deals are all but over (similar to HH after that video came out). And yes, anyone who followed his career knew he had a history of doing this type of stuff but this brought it up in a way where in the current climate it couldn't be ignored.

I think when you bring up Benoit to anyone except people who are lunatics they don't think of him as a legendary wrestler, they think of him as a deranged murderer. Like Dave to this day I can't watch any of his matches because enjoying them is impossible.

The only person who ended up looking like a fool was Bret Hart.
They asked him to renounce a contract they signed with them and told him to sign with WCW. Bret had creative control in a contract they agreed to. Bret refused to drop the title to Shawn because Bret tried to be professional months earlier by telling him he'd be willing to lose for him and Shawn said that's nice but he wouldn't be willing to do likewise (and let's not forget how he "lost his smile" to get out of losing to Bret at Mania 13). Bret told Vince he would gladly drop the title at the upcoming MSG house show or the December PPV show with Bischoff's blessing. The idea there would be a repeat of Medusa was BS as there was the lawsuit by WWF against WCW with that incident being a big part of it and doing so would've seen WCW potentially getting crushed in court (remember the precedent set with Flair re: NWA Title), and if Bret was of that mindset he could've flown to wherever WCW was holding Nitro the next night as WWF clearly violated his contract re: Creative control.

I can email him myself. I’m a subscriber. Or tweet him. He even once decided to write something based on something I asked
