I really enjoyed this guy as a Bruin. Very gutsy. Great team player. Played very, very well in both Cup final runs. The concussion last spring really changed things though. Still thought he was better than Campbell this season and deserved those last 10 games over him. Moot point now.
Best of luck.

20 was my fav unsung guy,and I def agree with the poster(s) that said campbell hurt him this year but I honestly think was derailed him was that concussion he suffered vs the sabres the last game of last season,he clearly hasn't been the same imo I woulda liked him back on a 1 or 2 year deal for 1 per...this team has already lost alot of heart and character guys and Paille is another

That's what is a little sad is that Paille and agent probably never even got to negotiate. He seems the type to sign a 900k deal just to stay. And that's a low enough contract that he could be demoted to Providence and be off the cap if he continued to regress.
He'll get another NHL contract if he wants one. Probably not a lot left in the tank but if he wanted to be paid as a 12th-13th sub. forward here I wouldn't have shown him the door so hastily but it's Chiarelli and he's been wrong a lot since 2011 so whatever.

Paille was pretty terrible this year, along with Campbell. I like him and think he did have same great years in Boston. But it'stime to move on from these 2 guys. If Claude is staying and all signs point to that, then I don't want these guys here since he can't help himself but overuse them.

I think that was the case with boychuk too...I've always thought that if boychuk was offered a similar deal as seidenberg signed for(maybe add a tearr because 55 is 2 years younger then 55) boychuk might be here today

I will miss Paille a great deal but it is also time for him to go. He's still a serviceable 4th liner but he very clearly took a step back this season. He's not the best 4th liner in the league anymore, like he was for the past couple of years. Like Soupy, Shawn, Ference, etc., it's time for him to go. His best days are behind him... but he had some pretty damn good days and I'm very glad we got to see his best.

It is crazy that a goal here and there for Paille in this regular season with all the breakaways he had could have put this team in the playoffs and bought him another year with this team.

Happily surprised to see all the love for Paille here. I always thought I held him in higher esteem than almost everyone and I'm glad to see I was wrong about that.

That said, my nickname for him has always been "Stone Hands," because I can't believe how many breakaway/wide open shorty bids he's blown over the years.

But the man plays his guts out every single shift and you just can't teach that kind of passion and intensity. Hope he gets a good deal with a team in the Western Conference.

Thanks for all the years of service Danny!

I actually loved that fourth line as players and as people, til their play deteriorated this year. But honestly, my issue was never with any of the players on the 4th line or Kelly. My issue was always with their usage.

I'll gladly salute Danny Paille if I saw him walking down the street and would absolutely pay for his tab if I saw him drinking at the bar. He's a good **** in my book.

Nice post.

Loved Danny Paille on the B's. I get it's time but it is sad .

Thanks for the years you played on the B's. Best of luck to you Danny.

A great fourth liner and energy forechecker, when he was at his best. A good player, someone you could rely on, even if his hands weren't the best.

Oh, how many times I nearly spilled a beer over the years jumping up while he would get a breakaway chance...only to shoot and hit the goalie straight in the chest.

But that was Paille for you, God love him. I hope he signs on with a contender and finds his game again.

I was over the top when the B's traded for him, seeing him play junior here (and he was a beast then) then seeing him in the black and gold was awesome.
Thought he played some of his best hockey during the cup run, sure he didn't score many goals but he was on top of play and laid some decent hits that kept the other team off kilter.
There goes the hometown connection to the B's, first Pevs, now Pie. But no regrets, it was sweet!

Paille was huge for us, he will be missed for what he brought to the Bruins, even if his stone hands drove me crazy more than a dozen times.

mistreated, underutilized, gritty and super fast player. created havoc just about every single game. that he was benched for weeks in favor of a completely useless center on a team loaded with centers as the team fell out of playoff contention is a fireable offense.

Paille has 4 years left in this league, and I hope he gets a chance with a real Cup contender. He will be an excellent fit on LA or Chicago. I hope he doesn't end up in noman's land but maybe he'll enjoy that fit for a while as well.

wish you well, Dan Paille, owner of the greatest single-player Stanley Cup Finals penalty killing performance of all time.

Thanks Paille, but it was definitely time. Shouldn't have been scratched before Campbell but there you go, we'll miss the wheels!
