Heidt was 6th in Pt/G last year in the WHL. This year he is tied for 5th. While the numbers are slightly down, it's certainly nothing to draw conclusions about at this time. Certainly nothing like the uneven production that Marat and Yurov have had in the KHL. If anything, Heidt has shown consistency offensively. He is becoming a better two way player the longer he stays in the WHL. I think he is a decent two way C. Slightly bigger and faster than a guy like Perfetti, IMO, and plays with more physicality. Still not sure that those attributes will carry over into the NHL, but all he can do is play well at the level he is at. Too bad we couldn't see him at the WJC over guys like Tanner Howe.

He’s not even among the 5 biggest snubs for Team Canada and I don’t think this two-way reputation is something Team Canada agrees with. If you can’t win the occasional puck battle, you are a huge liability. Heidt needs to add a lot of lower body strength and learn to compete below the dots or he won’t make it
He consistently wins puck battles in junior, and is a fixture on PG's PK. He does compete "below the dots" in my viewings of him. As with almost all prospects, he needs to add strength, but he by no means looks weak in the WHL. Like most offensive players, he tends to focus on offense, but he has far more of a two way game than a guy like Cristall.
Team Canada- well, that's another story. Leaving Parekh, Yakemchuk, Sennecke, Cristall, and Heidt off the team, then finding out that they can't score, is certainly casting doubts on their team selection process. I would pick the most talented players, and send them in waves at opponents, not pick Tanner Howe, Cataford, and the like. TC has oputthought themselves.

Stramel being a 1C for a D1 school and Yurov being a .5 ppg player in the KHL are more impressive than Heidt scoring 1.6 points per game in the WHL.

The CHL has its faults, but it is not prohibitive to players reaching the NHL. If Heidt is a player, he'll be one coming out of that league too.
Not hard to see him producing as a 19 year old, ppg could be well within reach.
Could also see him floundering against competition that’s older and plays better defense.

Pretty good team he's on, I'm not sure if we'll see him in action this year, but either way it's good news.
Looking at his game log, I see that he's started to get more TOI since his December 7th game. He's had 6 points in 12 games in that time, but 4 of those points are in his last 4 games. It's always hard to know what's going on over there without being able to see the games, but it sure appears he's been moved up a line. He's also getting more shots on goal this year than last year, it's just that he's shooting 8.2% instead of 13.1%.
Last year his team won the Championship, and his last game was April 24th. NHL playoffs start, probably, April 19th.

I was watching a lot of his games last year, this year I've been doing other stuff and haven't watched any of them. I should start trying to catch more to see how he looks compared to last year.
I wouldn't be shocked to see his season end a little earlier this year, Metallurg isn't quite as good this year as it was last. But still, the regular season ends March 23rd, after that it's anyone's guess.
But after his season ends, he still needs Metallurg to let him out of his contract before May 31st, and if they do, he needs a visa. Best case scenario I can see is his team loses in the first round and he gets here for the last 4-5 games of the season, April 6th-15th. Which could be nice, but I wonder if we'll even have the cap space for him prior to the postseason.
