It is inarguable that Rossi took a gigantic step forward from the 2022-23 season to the 2023-24 season. I have no idea how many more steps he has in him, but it seems overly pessimistic to just cap him at what he was last year right now.
Sorry, I might not have stated what I meant clearly when talking about Rossi being capped physically and ability wise. I mean, I don’t think his “top end” abilities and physical traits will allow for him to be a legit top line player. He could be a 60 point guy on the 1st line or a 50 point guy on the 2nd or etc. I just think his abilities are capped beneath where others have him. He should be able to improve upon this year, but there are doubts as to how much improvement he can have.

If he gets any PP1 time, he basically is there last year. Feels a little harsh to write him off as coming close to hitting his ceiling as a rookie

Rossi would have needed Kaprizov to force him there IMO. Yurov strikes me as a guy who could put up 60+ points as a line driver without Kaprizov.

This is why I was saying all last year , if Yurov is what we think he is then that makes one of Ek or Rossi expendable.

If it’s keep Ek and move Rossi which I would be totally fine with then we need to put Rossi in every situation we can to showcase him and pump his stats. Hopefully then we can fleece some team out of something of value while packaging Rossi with a Gaudreau type dump.

Rossi / Hartman / Gaudreau and a 2nd

for

8M scoring winger ala Bratt/Fiala level

It was nice, but I wonder if he would be able to go across the middle like that in the NHL.

Hit or miss, depends on the defensemen probably

Brady Tkachuk would have taken the opportunity to make that semi-blindside hit and it would have stopped there

Or... And this might be crazy ... We could have 3 good centers.

I agree with this, we do need better wingers though. Doesn't matter if you have three good centers if Johansson is on your second line and Foligno and Trenin are on the third.

Wait , you mean Foligno Rossi Trenin isn’t a good use of Rossi??????

Foligno is underrated around here. Our team is soft as hell and he’s one of the better defensive wings in the league. If we traded him, we’d be looking to acquire the same type of player right away. He’s our 7th best F right now IMO. He belongs on the 3rd line

I’m thinking more like

Kap Rossi Zucc
Yurov Ek Boldy
Ohgre Khus Hartman
Trenin Gaudreau Foligno

Assuming Kaprizov signs an extension:

Kaprizov - Yurov - X
Boldy - Eriksson Ek - X
X - Rossi - Hartman

Roll ELCs through the X spots.

Can't split up Kaprizov and Rossi, they're best friends and have great chemistry

Is realistically what I see it being next year. I could also see then moving on from Rossi if they can get an equivalent winger to fill that second like slot.
