But what is the difference between a healthy Drouin and Mikko Rantanen? And is it worth an extra 7-8 million per season more? I know which one puts more effort in and is way better defensively.

Fair point for sure. Mikko has a little more skill, but double the salary worth no. Both get a ton of points being on the PP and line 1. Drouin needs to up his ENG game like Mikko so he can demand a massive raise too.

The biggest differences are Mikko stays healthy and Drouin has never come close to the numbers Mikko puts up year in and year out. Is Mikko worth what he's asking? No. But him and Drouin aren't comparable.

I think that's the main difference. Health.

But I have a hard time justifying paying Rantanen 13 or 14 million and letting Drouin walk at maybe 4.5-5 million
