The 5 on 5 offense isn't really that concerning to me outside only rolling 3 lines every night lately.

It's the defense that's really concerning, and the PP shitting the bed is compounding things.

Not even that concerned about the defense.

If there’s something to worry about it’s more about how young this team is and the penchant for them to have these catastrophic mental meltdowns IE not executing the safe smart plays at the ends of periods that result in backbreaking goals against. “Finding ways to lose”, as they say.

Secondary to that is their size and style of play…is it enough to continue winning games at a high rate as the season goes on and teams adjust, and in the playoffs when you’re going best on best facing opponents that can potentially play multiple winning styles. In other words, are we a one trick pony that becomes incredibly average if you find a way to stifle that one trick?

Third on my list would be the goaltending/defense, but I feel that’s more a byproduct of the first two things rather than its own genuine concern.

Either way, even if the team plays the reSt of the season getting mediocre results they’re probably still a wild card team. Not that anyone should be ok with that given the bar has now been raised, but “death spiral” is a really overdramatic outlook.

We almost HAVE to have one of Bratt Nico Jack in god mode per game . When we did , we owned teams.
They have all been very good still but beast mode Bratt hasn’t been around for awhile , same with Nico when he was scoring at will almost . They dominated hams like Nico in Calgary etc . He had 3/4 games where he looked like a Hart trophy candidate . Same as Bratt and Jack when they have a couple / few game stretched where they are unstoppable …
Or just get Meier and call it a day where we would have 4 guys that can take over games single handedly lol

If we lose to the Flyers then I think it's time to at least start panicking.

It's premature right now though.

We played a good game. Unfortunately, a good amount of our shots weren't of the highest danger for a 36 shot effort. This is not unlike games for Dallas over the last several years. That's how they got career years out of Khudobin and probably even Bishop too, when they were both in their 30's and Bishop was being held together by glue and duct tape. They had a 34 year old borderline NHL goalie backstop them to the Stanley Cup Finals just a couple of years ago.

If they were 14-14-2, I'd be fine with the last 2 games as well. It has nothing to do with their record, what they did in November wasn't sustainable as much as we wanted it to be. They played better tonight and @MSG last night than they did in Philly where they won and I saw less rage on that GDT because they won, we can't be selective about this stuff, lol. If the Flyers come in Thursday and absolutely cave us into the ground then yeah I'll start to worry but until they have another Islander type game, this team deserves the benefit of the doubt.

This team just had a historic stretch. A slump was due. This ‘slump’ had three games where they easily should have won.

When’s the last time we scored a nice tic tac toe goal off the cycle . When we were hot , we were globetrotting treams , setting up beautiful plays and peppering Te other team. I wonder if they have lost some of their mojo / confidence . We were making multiple beautiful plays a period . Now that hasn’t happened for awhile?

Our bottom 6 has been useless garbage since Bastian went down, that's your reason why. Even when those guys weren't going in games, our bottom 6 was picking the slack tremendously. It hasn't happened recently because of it.

Yes Bratt was more visible tonight offensively than he’s been in a few games. He generated 2 good chances in the third, when we desperately needed someone to step up.

Also how good was that look by Hamilton with the goalie pulled? If he lifts that puck another 6 to 8 inches the game is tied.

Is there any data on how many posts have been hit on Schmid this year? There were 2 tonight and there's been 1 most of the other games he's played, aside from maybe the relief game against Ottawa. Pretty sure there were none in that one.

I'm just trying to better calculate what his save percentage would look like if some of those went into the net.

He's now allowed 10 goals on 163 shots for a .939%. That's including tonight's game.

I figure if 4 of those went in the net it would be 14 goals on 167 shots, which is good for a .917% right now and still pretty solid.

Not all of the post shots would have gone in of course, as I'd bet a goalie is bailed out by a post on average probably close to every other game.
