Post-Game Talk: Dallas Does Skinner

Sportsnet has shown clear replays of Kanes stick contacting Duchene’s cheek. It was a legitimate penalty call.

Agreed-- You are not going to get a 10 game hot streak from Stu. The boys seem to sag when they sense that he is in one of his funks which happens every 3rd or 4th game.

Considering he's had two great games and four horrendous games in these playoffs, I'd say he's twice as likely to be in a funk than have a good game.

[MOD]

It doesn’t f***ing matter if you win your team 2 games if you lose your team 3. You are still a loser.

Actually...he's lost his team four games. He's lost us two games for every game he's won.

Man I MISS Pickard

His thing was letting in like 2 goals usually, one could even be "meh", and then he just locked it down.

Hop he is ready on SUN when we have to climb back from 2-0

Pickard actually made me change my opinion on Schwartz. I mean Dusty took an AHL journeyman and helped him become a playoff beast...

Which somehow makes Stu even worse than I ever thought possible.

To me, the boys play harder in front of Pickard because they see has less talent but battles WAY harder. Stu tries to be Mr Cerebral and ends up playing and looking lazy.

I would tend to believe Picks became a playoff beast in spite of DS not because of him. Every goalie that has come here under him has regressed or stalled out.

Yes legit penalty. Also a grave embellishment that needs to be addressed before the NHL becomes exactly the same as soccer and the NBA. Call the dives all of them.
The funny thing about this is people were saying this as far back as the 70's. Probably the 50's. Its ages long complaint, and never changes and hockey has had players milking calls my entire life.

The NHL doesn't address shit. Occasionally they go on enforcement of some things like wrist slashes head shots or whatever and then let a lot of stuff go again.

I don't tend to complain about officiating because it is just what it is. Ain't much teams can do about that. They can however get a goalie.

The straightaway shot clearly showed him getting hit on the chin. The SN shot I have seen looks like it starts as the stick is on its downswing AFTER it has already connected.AI?

Saw another SN shot like the one on this page of the thread and it clearly shows it connected with Dutchy's cheek.

I’ve calmed down but I still think that game sets the tone for the series. Edmonton can play great hockey but as long as we have Skinner and an awful PK Dallas can play for a few minutes and we can lose the game.
As long as Skinner is in the net we have to play perfect hockey.
Imho those 2 shut outs may actually hurt the team this playoffs cause it’ll give the team a false sense of hope in Skinner.

That said the penalty kill is awful and they need to give it to a different coach like right now
Hopefully that game reminded them to take NOTHING for granted, every period, every shift, every action/reaction.

Skinner can not be depended on, you have to compensate for him, the PK needs significant improvement and refs need glasses, so don’t take needless penalties..

Does Pickard have Oiler water / Klefbomb flesh eating disease or wtf? I don't even recall him getting hit or anything.

Hertl fell on him on purpose. Could tell right away he was hurt.
Yep, Vegas made a point in Game 2 to initiate contact repeatedly with Oilers defensemen around the crease (with or without the puck). It worked because they removed Pickard from the series with a leg injury. That's what made it even more amusing in Game 4 when Hill was flipping out when the Oilers forwards returned the favor.
