Post-Game Talk: Dallas Does Skinner

I mean, it's not like everyone else on the ice knew where the puck was. Oh, wait.

The most hilarious thing on that play is Duchene trying to score on Hintz, his own player, who is goal preventing. But yeah. Not even any Skinner stan can defend what Skinner was doing on that play not even in his crease and his back turned to the play. Theres nobody behind the net but Skinner seeing ghost of Kuzmenko...

I'll say it too. Seguin got in the film room. Was the most dangerous Star scoring two goals, leading the team and he was setting up in back of net doing the behind the net stuff which is Kryptonite for Skinner. Thats bad news that Stars are onto it.

One of the most devastating playoff losses of the McDavid era. Similar to game 1 against Florida, where the Panthers realized they could beat Edmonton’s A-game with their B-game, and gained all the confidence in the world because of it. Win game 2 or this run is over.
I'd compare last night's loss to the Game 1 loss against LA. I don't see any reason why we can't rebound in the next game.

I'd compare last night's loss to the Game 1 loss against LA. I don't see any reason why we can't rebound in the next game.

The only reason I'm not panicked is the fact that we've had some version of this Game 1 so many god damn times over the past few years that they're just used to it. Off memory:

2022 Game 1 against the Flames - one of the miracle comeback attempts thwarted by stupidity and bad goaltending. Oilers were pathetic in the first 30 mins of the game.

2022 Game 1 against the Avalanche - see above. Comeback attempt thwarted by stupidity/bad goaltending.

2023 Game 1 against Vegas - Leon scores 4 goals but we find a way to lose with stupidity/goaltending.

2024 Game 1 against the Nucks - big lead blown by goaltending. Closest comparable to this game of all of them.

2025 Game 1 against the Kings - very similar to the Flame Game 1, but this time we found a way to blow it in even more dramatic fashion.

All of these games are stunningly similar in so many ways, the only difference between them is if we embarrass ourselves, come back, only to then embarrass ourselves again anyways, or if we take a big lead and embarrass ourselves by getting dicked at the end of the game. Every one of these games features a 5-10 minute period of total team and goaltending collapse that buries any and all good that might have otherwise got a win.

Frustrating to lose going into the third, breaking without bending like that, but that was a really fortuitous period for Dallas. Everything went in for them and it's not just on Stu and the D. Those were all seeing-eye shots or weird bounces like the fifth goal.

Unpopular opinion perhaps but I thought Kane's penalty was the correct call, although I wouldn't have minded 2 for embellishment on Duchene on top of it.

The one that really pissed me off was the call on Kulak late in the second. The Oilers were in the unacceptable position of being up in powerplays, on top of being up on the scoresheet. That was just a battle where Marchment fell down and they found a way to make a straight-up make-up call that started Dallas' comeback. They had to call two straight (legit) penalties anyway; don't manufacture things and decide the game, okay zebras?

And what the hell was that by Perry? 200 ft from your own net up 3-2 in the third, having just let in a goal against the league's number 1 PP merchants? FFS, you're 40 years old Corey...

Perry needs to sit a game

That Duchene goal was one of the worst goalie performances I've ever seen. We're gonna be down 0 to 2 again because of this trash goaltender and pickard if healthy is gonna have to try and resurrect our season again. I hope they waive his stupid ass next season and let him spend the entire year riding a bus because that's where he belongs.

The fake head snap has become an epidemic in the league, with no repercussions. At a minimum the player needs to be fined and his mug goes up on the embellishment board, with a warning if it happens again it is a minimum one game suspension. It makes a garbage league even more trashy.

Yeah the Oilers should erase every star on ice and prevent them from ever having any shot. What rubbish. The Oilers were playing the same shutdown game Panthers were and your team never does.

ON a PP how do you remove EVERY shot possibility. The Oilers allowed a shot from the blueline, not even a fast shot, and it went in. You think they can erase every spot while killing pk. Send in your resume, you'd be better than any special teams coach. you must be...

The Oilers allowed 9sog in third. With any normal goalie that amounts to about 1 GA on average. Stars bagged 4. 3 were Skinners fault.

Analyze it further. Stars had 8 sog on Skinner in third, 4 went in. The other shot was the empty net goal..

Gee I wonder what the problem was.
Neither team is my team. Oilers screwed the pooch in the 3rd period. Don't be afraid to admit it. We were cheering for them.

Yup, just too many careless penalties. Perry’s was dumb too. Kulak cannot be in the box multiple times, especially with Ekholm out, we need him on the kill.

This team is entertaining at least, always a roller coaster 🤣
Of all the penalties in the game I think the one against Kulak and the Dallas penalty committed against Jannmark were the lamest.

That cut off replay is what Sportsnet showed it's not like others were doing the editing.

We didn't even. Dallas had 4-5 SOG on 3PP's in succession in third period and the Goof let 3 of them in. What again is even the function of a goalie in net?

The Matt Duchene PP goal is a laugher. No NHL goalie in the league should be such a dunce on that play. Skinner, what was he even doing. Duchene is taking whacks at the puck trying to punch it home and Skinner somehow doesn't know where the puck is? Thats a bloody indictment of his non existent tracking ability. Thats not a pk fault. how do you defend pk when you don't even have a goalie in net? It took several secs for Skinner to slowly get over, by then too late.
Somebody please tell that to the media and goalie coaches. Everyone seems to think Shit Stinker has elite tracking ability and puck handling skills compared to Picks 🤮

f***🤬

They didn't OOT fan never seen here before.

One player screwed up. Guess which one.

Go head to the Leafs parade. There must be one happening..
Last place I would go is a Leaf Parade. They go down like the Titanic when they hit the ice. I cheered for the Oilers last night. It's a fact they screwed up in the 3rd.

Let me tell you CHT's response

"Why they let Dallas take shots on our net?"

I’m to lazy to look back at all the game stats but what is our PK record these playoffs with Skinner vs Pickard? I feel like it’s around 75% with Pickard and 30% with Skinner. The first and third PP goal against us last game falls on Skinner.
