His contract isnt great but the Dallas system is an offensive blackhole. Bassically everyone on the team took an offensive hit when we switched to Monty's system and then even more when Bowness took over. Seguin is not a full on anchor, and nowhere near bad enough to warrant tossing in Klingberg just to move him.

We'll just have to agree to disagree...

You'll be forced to if he doesn't begin producing at an all-star level...

It's unlikely anyone will be willing to take that contract in a year or two if he doesn't improve

Duh!

We're forced to keep him regardless of whether he produces or not. He has an NMC for all the remaining years.

I could see Calgary possibly being interested in Seguin, but I can't imagine Dallas would retain 50%...

To Calgary: Seguin, Klingberg

To Dallas: Monahan, Lucic, Pitlick

How did you manage to make a proposal worse than the one in OP?

bravo

I thought this was the logical deal in Pavelski for futures. Alas. Wrong.

I don’t think Dallas trades Seguin until at least the second half of the contract. No reason to cripple your cap space so far into the future where so much is unknown- especially while he is still a productive player.
