I'd be shocked if Chevy traded Barlow for Nelson but perhaps having Yager in the system makes that trade easier to make for wpgHe’d be a great fit on the JETS. Technically his hometown of Warroad is closer to Winnipeg than it is to St. Paul MN.
I’d begrudgingly part with Colby Barlow if I had to.
Scheifele - Nelson - Lowry - Namestnikov is pretty solid center depth.
We're in disagreement over what's considered fair value here so we're not fine trading partners. You don't want to offer a even a first for Nelson, that's fine, we'll move on.

Of course, he'd rip Guerin for trading a 1st for rental the second it happened.
I think we could probably write conditional language onto a 2026 1st depending on what happens this year (if we send away 2025, the 2026 becomes conditionally protected in 2026 or unprotected in 2027), but why would the Islanders want to deal with that when they could just get a 2025 1st and move on?
No, since they're from Minnesota we'll trade a first and one of our top 3 or 4 prospects for 33-34 year old rentals who have made one all star game in their combined 25 seasons

You don’t have a first available in the next 2 drafts. Trading for a 1st in 3 seasons from now just isn’t going to cut it. Teams will offer the high end prospect and a 2025 1st which will beat these Minnesota offers. Now if these guys are so overrated and have only made 1 all star game combined, you guy don’t need them to push the Wild over the edge of winning a playoff round for the what 3rd time in franchise history.
Personally think that Heidt holds more value than a late 1st this year. But hey, if the Islanders would prefer a pick instead who am I to stop them.
