The islanders should obviously look to trade him but isn’t Lou more likely to add a mediocre player for a first?
Wild are fine trading partners. Just not going to overpay.Maybe the Wild aren't good trading partners then, seems kinda clear based on basically this entire thread.
I'd be shocked if Chevy traded Barlow for Nelson but perhaps having Yager in the system makes that trade easier to make for wpgHe’d be a great fit on the JETS. Technically his hometown of Warroad is closer to Winnipeg than it is to St. Paul MN.
I’d begrudgingly part with Colby Barlow if I had to.
Scheifele - Nelson - Lowry - Namestnikov is pretty solid center depth.
We're in disagreement over what's considered fair value here so we're not fine trading partners. You don't want to offer a even a first for Nelson, that's fine, we'll move on.Wild are fine trading partners. Just not going to overpay.
didnt realize u guys were the gmsWe're in disagreement over what's considered fair value here so we're not fine trading partners. You don't want to offer a even a first for Nelson, that's fine, we'll move on.

They can offer one of their C rate prospects, a cap dump and future considerations since both guys are clearly old and not useful anymore. What about an All In package for both MIN boys, Lee+Nelson
They have Duchene and Wyatt Johnston who can play CWith Seguin down, seems like a good, logical target for the Stars.
I speak as someone who doesn't really need to hear any more about how Minnesota won't offer a first rounder for a rental. As if you speak for the organization - lol
How the eff is that going to work cap-wise?What about an All In package for both MIN boys, Lee+Nelson
It’s not that we cannot offer a 1st, it’s just not the one you want. We're in disagreement over what's considered fair value here so we're not fine trading partners. You don't want to offer an even a first for Nelson, that's fine, we'll move on.
Didn't know you speak for your GM as well...It’s not that we cannot offer a 1st, it’s just not the one you want.
I don’t need to be GM to figure out that the 2025 1st is conditional and therefore the 2026 1st is conditional as well, making them unavailable to offer. Islanders fans being thick skulled about that is amusing.Didn't know you speak for your GM as well...

This year's second and next year second. A whole host of good prospects and intriguing prospects. It's going to tough to acquire a top rental without a tradeable 1st before 2027.
It’s comedic, you using the term “we” like you’re actually a Wild fan.The one the Isles want AND the one that most other teams can offer. We're the loser here, not New York.
It begs the question. Does Guerin actually believe in this team? Because if one does, one shouldn't waste opportunities like this one with Kaprizov in his prime. It's going to tough to acquire a top rental without a tradeable 1st before 2027.
He's not wrong. Dallas or Winnipeg 2025 1st >> our 2027 1st, if we're the 3 teams bidding. It’s comedic, you using the term “we” like you’re actually a Wild fan.
No, since they're from Minnesota we'll trade a first and one of our top 3 or 4 prospects for 33-34 year old rentals who have made one all star game in their combined 25 seasonsThey can offer one of their C rate prospects, a cap dump and future considerations since both guys are clearly old and not useful anymore.

You don’t have a first available in the next 2 drafts. Trading for a 1st in 3 seasons from now just isn’t going to cut it. Teams will offer the high end prospect and a 2025 1st which will beat these Minnesota offers. Now if these guys are so overrated and have only made 1 all star game combined, you guy don’t need them to push the Wild over the edge of winning a playoff round for the what 3rd time in franchise history. No, since they're from Minnesota we'll trade a first and one of our top 3 or 4 prospects for 33-34 year old rentals who have made one all star game in their combined 25 seasons
Personally think that Heidt holds more value than a late 1st this year. But hey, if the Islanders would prefer a pick instead who am I to stop them. He's not wrong. Dallas or Winnipeg 2025 1st >> our 2027 1st, if we're the 3 teams bidding.
Of course, he'd rip Guerin for trading a 1st for rental the second it happened.
I think we could probably write conditional language onto a 2026 1st depending on what happens this year (if we send away 2025, the 2026 becomes conditionally protected in 2026 or unprotected in 2027), but why would the Islanders want to deal with that when they could just get a 2025 1st and move on?
