honestly, I think if they acquired Nelson they would be my pick for a club in the east that could de-throne FLA so long as Carolinas Goaltending holds up .

Nelson is the most "1st round pick (top 10 protected), B prospect, expiring salary filler" guy I've ever seen in my life.
Would be a good fit in either of those places although if I was Dallas I'd be looking for a defenseman first.

Dallas has a dearth of assets for Nelson, would Mayfield for something like a 3rd be okay? I don't see a good Nelson package there, but I don't know what prospects Dallas has that are worthwhile. Maybe Bourque and the 2025 1st for Nelson and Mayfield?

With this deal, Wild will be back in Fletcher territory, throwing away picks, prospects, and the future.
