Chipman says they're building a statue for Dale in True North Square. Dale was aware before he died.

One of the greatest moments in Jets' history. go to the 2 hour mark. Uncle Don has no idea how loud it would get after game 4. Please make Dale jumping and celebrating as the statue.

I was at this game as a 15 year old. Poked my friend in the eye high fiving after Dale's goal so he spent the last 3 minutes of the game crying.

Damnit can 2020 suck any harder. Was out helping a friend with some things, a friend ironically who has cancer and didn't have my phone with me as I didn't want to be bothered.

Got home and this is the first thing I see. RIP to the greatest Jet ever and a truly nice guy. Condolences to friends and family. I'm glad Dale you are no longer in pain.

This will hurt for a long time to come, but we have so many memories to look back on and share that you will never truly be far from the fans you entertained every time you laced up your skates.

Such a sad day. Hawerchuk was a hero of mine. I got to see Ducky score the GWG in Game 3 of the 1990 Jets - Oilers series. That was my first ever Jets playoff game. I was 10 and it was a life changing experience - solidified me as a Jet fan forever. That goal turned out to be Hawerchuk's last as a Jet, as he was traded to Buffalo that offseason.

I finally got to meet him, along with Hedberg and Nilsson, at an autograph signing at a Staples in the early 2000s. Watching him suit up again for the Jets at the Heritage classic, on a line with Teemu, was a dream come true.

I always ask for #10 when I play hockey. Class act all the way.

RIP Ducky.

Dam.

By far my favourite Jet of all time.

Shared a birthday with him. He married a girl from my hometown and got to play against him in summer hockey when he had a cottage in Gimli.

While he was in St Louis a girlfriend of mine took care of his kids.

Above all the best part about him was his personality. He cared for people.

The one memory (and most important ) was what he said to me after a game in Gimli summer league.

After the game we were all in the dressing room and I was sitting across from him. I asked him what he missed about playing in Winnipeg. (Was in St Louis).

He said the people...........but expanded (not an exact quote but best I can remember) “ in Manitoba people will hold the door open for you, say thank you and please, they will stop if you need help and smile and wave”

Didn’t understand totally at the time but after hearing so many stories today I understand now what he valued and what that said about him as a person.

One of those special people that was great on and off the ice.

My condolences to Crystal, Ben, Eric and Alexis. My prayers are with you.

RIP Dale.

My heart is heavy. Even though we all feared that this may be the outcome it still really tough to take. Best Jet ever and a class act all around. I have the Jersey he wore in the Heritage classic which is easily now my most prized possession. Thanks for the memories Ducky you will be missed.

He was able to live the dream of almost every Canadian boy, because unlike the rest of us he had phenomenal talent. But other than that, he never stopped being someone that you could imagine as your next door neighbour. No pretension to him at all. I think that easy connection with everyday people is why so many people are so choked up about this. He was also largely responsible for convincing the Jets to take Scheifele, so he's the gift that keeps on giving for Winnipeg, even now.
