I was under the impression Heiskanen was only playing RD this year because their right side is so bad. Obviously he's talented enough to play either side and with Harley and Lindell on the left it makes sense. Lyubushkin is a bottom pair D

The right side is weaker obviously, but with Bischel playing great as a rookie, and Lindell and Harley on the left side, Heiskanen is stuck playing the right.

Would be nice to see him play his strong side, but he's still solid on right

Regardless, whatever keeps dumba as the 7th D lol

That was the hope, assuming everybody was healthy and Dumba wasnt absolute garbage. Regardless of handedness, it was always Miro / Harley / Lindell in leading the d in TOI.

Once Dumba was all but unplayable (and then injured) and Bischel showed he belgoned, Miro went back. Re-signing Lindell for 5 years and Harley likely going to stay w the team, Miro is the teams long term RD

Granlund is not good. Tidy work by SJ turning him into a 1st round. He’ll do nothing on the Stars once he’s relegated to 3rd line duties.

Granny alone deserves that. Ceci for nothing. I don't like this very much. I figured he'd pull a 3rd at least. Ah well, nothing to lose sleep over.
No its perfectly inflated value for expiring contracts close to the deadline. Granlund = 1st, and Ceci = 4th

Silly take. Granlund has been really good this season, arguably the the best rental forward available (I mean from a seller team, so not including a guy like Rantanen).
Granlund turns into a pumpkin on good teams.

Granlund MUST be in the top 6 and on the PP. If not it will turn out poorly.
and he wont be. He’ll be invisible on the 3rd line

Somehow the Karlsson trade which was a slam dunk on day 1, continues to get better. Every team should be trying to trade with Pittsburgh.

...Ceci...bottom pairing he should be OK...any time he has to do more (aka with the Oil), he's overmatched...hope he works out for the Stars...

Ceci likely played some of the best hockey of his career with the Oilers, and is certainly a second pairing defenseman at his best. Safe to say he's ideal on the third pairing, but he was part of a very solid playoff defense a game away from the cup. Seems like a quality team mate, too.

I wonder how much demand for cap space has decreased for next year given the announced increases. It seems like quite a bit given what Chicago got for retaining on Rantanen. Grier could get more assets for taking on long term cap dumps, rehabilitate the value of those players like he did with Granlund, rinse, repeat. But if taking on $4-5M only nets you a third round pick, it's not really worth it.

Granlund has played 871 games in the NHL and scored 172 goals and 417 assists for 589 points. Past two seasons he's been pacing for around 65-70 with the Sharks. Before that, around 50-60 points pace for Nashville.

I know Penguins fans dont like him for a reason, but those 21 games he played for them doesn't seem to be big enough sample size.

What teams and seasons are you talking about?

Very minor for Dallas. They have nothing but cap space. They're going after bigger fish shortly 👍
