Stumbledore has been around since 2018. Inana's account appears to be gone but she had only been around for a couple of years. If they are the same person, Stumbledore got bored with hockey and decided to get into fiction writing on the side.
We had an hfboards viewing party of a playoff game at the Met a few years ago and I think she was in attendance.

EDIT: turns out that was @chaos4

Based on what I’ve heard, I don’t expect Ehlers back next year. Despite his underlying numbers, underutilization, and the projected cap, I don’t see a world where Chevy offers him more than the $8.5m Helle and Scheif received. Rightly or wrongly, I think they play hard ball, set that as an internal figure, and Ehlers will be able to earn more elsewhere.

Similar to the Copp situation, I suspect we’ll look to move him (maybe alongside Perfetti, our 1st, and/or prospects?) to target a long-term C option and dman.

If BUF could negotiate a deal with Nik, I’d be looking to get Cozens and Byram/Power for Ehlers, Perfetti, 2025 first rounder, and any prospects not named Lambert or Salomonsson.

In the summer you re-sign Vilardi, Samberg, and Pionk and you’d be running this lineup next year:

Connor-Scheifele-Lambert
Namestnikov-Cozens-Vilardi
Nino-Lowry-Appleton
Barron-Gustafsson-Kupari
Chibrikov

Morrissey-DeMelo
Samberg-Pionk
Byram/Power-Miller
Salomonsson

What do you mean, by what you've heard? Chit chat on a message board or do you have a cousin who knows a guy who works security at CLC?

I don't know why people are still considering Lambert as untouchable. Even considering that the Moose are just a mess this year he has not been that impressive. He was not all THAT great last year either. Not bad, but not untouchable great.

I have Salomonsson, Yager and Freij on my untouchable list. Freij hasn't demonstrated all that much yet but his potential is high and he is our only good LHD prospect. So he makes my list. Yager still projects as a good 2 way middle 6 C. Lambert could turn out to be another Kupari.

Heinola, Lambert, Lucius, Barlow, Chibrikov could all be available, IMO.

I'd be fine giving that up but that's not going to get it done

And I'm fine with not getting that done if the price is going too high.

Everyone is available with the exception of Chibby and Salo oh and Ford:naughty:

he did take a “less than market value”/team friendly deal when his last deal was done

Not that it means unshakable roots but indicates to me he wants to wear the pens jersey

If he’s open to a trade though, why not join his buddy in Colorado?

Why wouldn't he go where the best shot at a cup is? That would be where his contribution is most impactful. Even if he doesn't exactly see it that way, I think fans make too much of buddies joining up.

Walman would be a great add! Was hoping he'd be one of those listed of potentially available defensemen in Ates column in the Athletic which dropped this morning.

Nope. The list was pretty uninspiring with 10 players listed playing significantly under their contract value. In the comments one poster wrote "this list is the defense equivalent of that DVD bin at WalMart with titles like AirBud 2 and Universal Soldier."

David Savard, Ivan Provorov, Seth Jones, Rasmus Ristolainen, Cody Ceci, Ryan Lindgren, K'Andre Miller, Brian Dumoulin, Mario Ferraro & Connor Murphy were the featured players.

Walman would finally push Stan to the PB. Surely SJS could be persuaded to part with him. 1 more year at 3.4 and he shouldn't be excessively high priced to acquire. They got him AND a 2nd for good old FCs.

It's definitely not realistic, no way in hell Ehlers agrees to sign with Buffalo, I still believe Chevy will offer Ehlers the Scheifs/Helly deal (maybe 500K less) and he will accept, I don't see other teams offering much more and only we can offer him 8 year term.

No way I would offer him 8 years, but I would go higher on the AAV, especially with the cap estimate being what it is.

If you're Chevy, you can't make a deal like that when your team is performing the way it is, as it is

You look for an option to upgrade 3LHD (maybe even 3RHD) and look for a centre in for the middle 6 if one is available

Any type of hockey trade has to wait for the offseason

As for Ehlers, I think there's an opportunity to deal him for a 1st and a replacement roster forward (who obviously won't have the same impact he has)

Usually the teams that trade for rentals are the ones looking to win it all but I think that there are a bunch of teams that are within striking distance of a WC spot that would love to make the playoffs. If Chevy could get one of them to overpay for a rental Ehlers, I'm OK with that.

For example... Utah management would be thrilled for playoff hockey in that market in their first season. So something like:

Ehlers for 1st plus Bjugstad + prospect

Chevy pockets that 1st (mid to late teens) and uses the Jets 1st (late 20s - 32nd) to find another F that bridges the production gap between Ehlers and Bjugstad

CSV
Nino Lowry Apples
X Bjugstad Perfetti
Barron Gus Kupari Names Iafallo (some combo as 4th line)

Player X could be a rental, or a player with term who can slot into our middle 6 moving forward

Just to be 100% clear, I'd hope that Chevy could extend Ehlers as my first choice.... but if he's 100% gonna walk, this is an option to deal with it (plus we'd be upgrading our 1st round pick in June)

I wish we could get a big hockey trade, but I agree with you. It is highly unlikely. I think that includes any trade of Ehlers.

I just don't see why he would entertain any sign and trade whe he can choose where he wants to be in 5 months

I think that would depend on the offer. If it is what he would expect (his agent would expect), he might accept as long as he is happy with the destination. What that would take we really don't know. Maybe he would go to Mtl to reunite with Laine. Who knows?

He was good in last year's playoffs. If we obtained him, Perfetti likely gets cemented into the bottom 6.
Man... that's a tough one. He puts up goals, but he's slow. Could be a toffoli 2.0 for us

BUT... that's the kind of example I was talking about in my previous post about dealing Ehlers as a rental

So.. for example

Trade 1:
To Utah: Ehlers
To Jets: Bjukstad + 1st

Trade 2:
To Van: Jets 1st + Barlow or Lucious (no Lambert, Chibs, Yager, Friej or Salomonsson)

Connor Schief Vilardi
Perfetti Bjugstad Boeser (butter soft matchups)
Nino Lowry Apples
Barron Names Iafallo

And the Jets pick mid-late 1st round instead of late 1st

I like this thought process, but also not sold on Boeser. The 2 areas we really need to improve is #2 center and a defenseman that can push the fringe 6/7/8 defenseman out of the lineup. Preferably someone with size that plays a tough game.

So much pivots on Ehlers

IF he's 100% out the door, does Chevy deal him? And if so, is the line that he WAS on really the second line anymore?

Agreed on the D. A guy like Zadorov would be amazing (not him specifically due to term and NMC, but someone in that mold)

Sure, 1st ++, but your +s are too high.
They aren’t even real. An example of an overpay that a team may need to pry Parkyko out of St.Louis in my opinion. I only used Jets players because I’m not as familiar with other rosters.

The cost for any team wanting him in my opinion will be a 1st a prospect and a youngish roster player. That’s all. When Armstrong moves him for a 2nd rounder I’ll cook some crow for dinner as that is where the discussion started. The Jets acquiring him for a 2nd rounder.

I completely agree that it’s a 1st ++

I highly doubt they trade ehlers, even if he is out the door he will be an own rental

You're giving up Ehlers and Barlow for the rest of the season of Bjugstad and Boeser?
