There was some surprise this morning when Calgary released Lauri Korpikoski from his PTO, after Flames coaches had been quite complimentary of his play, thus far, in the preseason.

So it sounds like someone else has signed Korpikoski. Any guesses who? I know Florida has some major injury issues (Bjugstad out 4 weeks, Huberdeau out 4 months).

Korpi isn't exactly a player Florida could use right now.

Doubt it, no idea how we could afford him. Too much money on plugs like Boll...

I really have a hard time believing we'll ride the youngsters + Boll and Raymond into the season, but who knows. Something kind of has to happen within the next few days. The budget isn't kind to us.

Nashville has only 22 players on their training camp roster, and they seem to like signing bought out players (Ribeiro, Hodgson, Carle). My best guess.

Did any Flames actually want to sign him? Personally I was super happy to be rid of him as an Oiler fan.

That would be to make room for the youngsters, not another veteran.

We are probably not signing anyone, and if we do, it's probably Prust.

How many rookies can we have? Mathews Nylander Marner Zaitsev Hyman that's 5 possibly Carrick so 6 thats nearly 25% of the roster

Whoever it is probably just need to fill a spot. They got themselves a pretty useless hockey player

Brown and Leivo as well. Also Carrick has played 50 games in the NHL. I'd hardly count him as a rookie.

If they didn't want so many rookies, they would have kept Greening and Laich on the roster. It's not like either weren't playing like NHLers in the preseason. They would have been perfect for our bottom 6. But they wanted to give Hyman and Brown the spots instead I guess.

The Leafs have too much forward depth ATM. They need to find a way to move one before the start of the season, not add another one. Otherwise, the Leafs will be sitting a young guy in the AHL that they don't want to sit, much like they are probably are going to be forced to do with Leivo in the NHL.

I thought Brown and Leivo were sent done I missed that, OK so now we are up to 8

That's over what? 35% of your roster is rookies? You can't have that, nobody has that espicslly if you are looking to take a step this year and the Leafs are, they aren't tanking again you don't get Fredrik Andersen and Enroth if you are tanking again.

If that were the case you just keep Bernier and Reimer

That doesn't mean playoffs by any stretch but they aren't tanking hell even when they were they didn't have 8 rookies
