He looks pretty good point wise!
What type of player is he?
I mean why did he fell ti the 3rd round in the draft?is it just his size?or is it his defensive game?
Sorry but i just don‘t see any games from the OHL!

where do you find the stats with SOG for OHL?
He fell because of his size.

He fell because of his size.
He may not have size, but he certainly has style

in his first 15 games, 4 goals, 10 assists, 14 points
(17 goal, 63 point pace)

in his last 27 games, 11 goals, 38 points
(28 goal, 96 point pace)

season totals so far in the OHL; 15 goals, 52 points.
- 2nd place in d-men points, just 4 points shy of struggling Mintukhov.

Dude is only 18 years old, playing in his 2nd season.

Was a big fan of him in his draft year and was hoping he would fall to Habs 3rd round pick. I really like Seattle's draft last year.

Kid’s just nasty and an absolute joy to watch with how hard he plays. Really think he’s a top-4 guy and PPQB for the Kraken.

How do you think he will compare to Ryker Evans? I'm guessing these are the top two D prospects in the Kraken org. Evans seems to have had a very good season in the AHL, and Nelson certainly exploded this year.

If I had to guess I'd say Nelson may have the higher ceiling but Evans more ready and steady, safer to an extent?

Just don't get to watch either with any regularity, so curious about some more insightful opinions.

I saw a ton of Evans with the Pats and always was a big fan of his entire game. I haven’t watched him play in the AHL but I’m not surprised to see he has stellar numbers, given his biggest strength has always been his IQ. Those kind of guys rarely struggle to adapt quickly to the pro leagues. Nelson has the better tools to be a big-time difference maker, which is a rare thing to say about a guy clocking in under 6’, but his shot has always been dangerous and his increased confidence holding on to the puck and being the quarterback in the offensive end this year were reflected in his big production jump. At this point, all I can say with any confidence is that both guys have a lot of top-4 upside for the Kraken, but I’m more confident that Evans will approach his upside. That’s not to take anything away from Nelson - I’m a big fan, but at the NHL level he’ll be undersized with only average skating, which inevitably leaves some question marks on the table even though I think he’s aggressive and smart enough to more than make up for it and be a really solid player. I could actually see the two working very well together as a pair deployed behind scoring lines.
