D Ty Nelson - North Bay Battalion, OHL (2022, 68th, SEA)

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. The admin team will continue to work on existing issues, templates and upgrade all necessary available addons to minimize impact of this new version. Click Here for Updates
He can still grow 2+ inches, remember he is 17 playing in the OHL. The 197lbs is impressive though.

He will be 18 at the end of March. He doesn’t have much left in terms of growing (both of his parents are fairly short). He is definitely thick for his age, but at 197 there’s not a lot of weight to be added. Relatively speaking he is more physically developed than his peers, which may serve him well now - but that gap will close as others catch up physically and he starts playing against men.

Unfortunately, a good chunk of the 197 lbs is hair...

Just saw the weight on this kid, he is built like me. Which means if he fills out like I did (but stays leaner cause the whole pro athlete thing) I'd expect him to possibly hit 210. I don't care how tall you are 210 is not a small person.

Signed someone who is 5'10, 220

Being built like a fire hydrant seems like it would be a good thing around the net.

1 Assist vs Mississauga after 2 periods.

I've seen Ty Nelson play live 5 or 6 times this season. I see that David Goyette (Sudbury) & Liam Arnsby (North Bay) both measured at 5'10.25"

My guess is that Ty is ~5'8.5" but he's very stocky. He is listed at 5'10" on OHL site.

Big fan of his play

Drafted first overall by the North Bay Battalion in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection Draft, Ty Nelson had to sit out the entire 2020-21 season due to COVID-19. Back on the ice this year, he had an excellent rookie year. Nelson scored nine goals and 42 assists for 51 points in 66 games. Nelson led all OHL rookies in assists. He also scored 10 assists in 12 OHL Playoff Games. He helped North Bay to the Eastern Conference Final before they fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs in a four-game sweep. Nelson also played for Team Red at the 2022 CHL Top Prospects Game.

Leads the entire OHL in shots on goal, shots on goal per game, shot attempts and shot attempts per game.

Pace for almost 400 shots on goal...

4 goals, 14 points, 1.10 ppg to boot

He looks pretty good point wise!
What type of player is he?
I mean why did he fell ti the 3rd round in the draft?is it just his size?or is it his defensive game?
Sorry but i just don‘t see any games from the OHL!

where do you find the stats with SOG for OHL?

I haven't watched him enough to comment on his play. But it's easy to find SOG on the OHL website, just go to stats and then show/hide the stats you’d like to see :)
