Pretty good breakdown of his game for McKeen's subscribers (with video):

Here is what we wrote in our draft guide about him:
McKeen's 2022 NHL Draft Guide - The son of former New York Islanders defensive center Mats Lindgren, junior is a hyper mobile puck mover with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL. Lindgren is the type of prospect that elicits a wide variety of opinions (and projections) from scouts. His package of offensive skills is tantalizing. An effortless skater with an uncanny ability to escape trouble and find daylight, Lindgren combines that trait with great vision and playmaking abilities and good anticipation. When the puck is on his stick, he’s an offensive weapon. However, his focus wanes in the defensive zone. When this happens, there’s a noticeable lack of effort and tendency to glide. Additionally, Lindgren’s defensive reads can be questionable at times, leaving one to wonder if he doesn’t understand his assignment or is simply not mentally engaged at that moment. He can be physically overpowered defensively and will have to add strength as well. Lindgren struggles at times with consistency but when he is on, there are few blueliners who are more exciting to watch.

As a mover, there are few in this draft class who are as fluid in all four directions. He is incredibly elusive with how well he pivots, uses c-cuts, and drives action through all four planes of movement. His edgework is phenomenal. This allows him to be extremely dangerous both as a transitional leader, and as a point man just inside the blueline.

However, the defensive concerns are real. His lack of strength and physicality is often too noticeable as he fails to tie up forwards in the middle and fails to successfully win battles along the wall. Priority number one will be improving his conditioning in order for him to be able to be more difficult to play against. However, there were some positive strides shown defensively in the playoffs, where Lindgren was one of Kamloops’ best players. A high risk, high reward kind of selection, Lindgren does possess significant upside as an NHL player if his defensive shortcomings can be improved. - BO

There aren't as many videos on him, so for anyone interested, he played a bit in the CHL top prospects game, which is free. Just need to sign up for an account.

I guess you can't go off one game, but I don't see 90 picks worth of difference between him and some of the other Dmen that went early

This annual diebytheblade deal can be cringe/befuddling at times.

In a vacuum, Lindgren at 25 is about 5 spots to high I think. But whatevs.

We got so many that they made this into 50. They have Laaksonen at 26, Pekar at 31, and Constantini at 33. All ahead of Bloom Kozak Nadeau Novikov Poltapov Leinonen. What da!

The person that writes it means well, but isn’t so good at the prospect stuff. It’s the same writer that said Owen Power should stay all 4 years at Michigan.

Probably the same reason Dahlin switched from centre to being a dman: more time on the ice

13. Mats Lindgren, D

18 years old | 5-foot-11 | 173 pounds | Shoots left

Drafted: No. 106 in 2022
Tier: Projected to play NHL games

Skating: NHL average
Puck skills: NHL average
Hockey sense: Above NHL average
Compete: NHL average

Analysis: Lindgren’s a constant threat with the puck on his stick due to his offensive skill and especially his IQ. He makes a ton of clever plays with the puck on outlets and inside the offensive zone. He has good enough speed to go with his skill that he can also be a threat off the rush. Lindgren’s defending won’t be his calling card as a pro, but he skates and competes well enough to be competent to play a regular shift in the NHL.

Weird he asked for a trade when he openly talked about being excited his team was hosting the memorial cup this year. Doesn’t really add up.
