No one is allowed to like prospects? Would much rather Brannstrom break into the NHL with Vegas.

I don't care if you like prospects, I just didn't understand your initial post and was simply asking why you were 'upset'. And now I hear your response, I don't care why you were upset in the first place lol

I think the jury is still very much out on Wolanin, Jaros and Lajoie.

Sure, as it is on JBD and Brannstrom as well

I feel confident in projecting Wolanin as a #4D, though, and I feel confident projecting Lajoie and Jaros as bottom pairing guys. If they are able to exceed that and really excel is another question entirely but I am comfortable in projecting them to those levels based on their skillsets

I was pretty confident about Claesson and Mezsaros, and reasonably confident about Cowen and Wiercioch.

I guess I'm just a little too cautious at this point.

Makes sense, I was pretty confident about Meszaros and Cowen, never liked the other two. To be fair, Meszaros was a decent defender for a while in the NHL... decent #4/#5 for a while there until he lost a step to injuries. Cowen was ruined by injuries and idiocy/cockiness/laziness... still think he could have been a real one

Obviously I could be wrong but I think I have gotten decent at appraising these guys. I dont think any of them will be excellent defenders but I do think they could effectively fill out the bottom half of a D group

Of course you're allowed to like other prospects... But the poster questioned why you were upset about a prospect that's not in your system.. it's not quite obvious why you would be.

Yea Melnyk is actually a huge problem, the reason why the team can’t keep guys is solely him.

Murray was able to keep him in check which is something Dorion can’t do because he doesn’t have that same respect that Murray had.

I could be wrong here but if he plays 10 or more games doesn't he lose 1 of his ELC years? It's in the Sens best interest to make sure he doesn't play more then 9 games

You are correct, but I really doubt he gets 10 games with us. We only have 12 games left, we will get bodies back and we will want him in the AHL to help them compete for the playoffs

You are wrong, yeah. He has already lost this ELC year.

What they don't want to do is make him eligible for the Seattle expansion draft.

When a 19 Year old plays in the AHL that doesn't eat into his ELC(see Nylander). As for future expansion drafts I do believe it counts as 1 year towards that(whether he plays in the NHL or not this year)

Just joking. Ottawa is great.

What's with the insecurity from Ottawa fans? Melnyk sucks, but I bet things will turn around. Have some optimism.

Karlsson doesn't even appear to be worth the money anymore and I bet Stone won't be.

I think if you have been paying close attention since the 2012 season as a sens fan there is very little to be optomistic about anything in Ottawa with Melnyk as an owner.

Stone is a super star in his prime, if he isnt worth 9.5 million per then Tavares surely isnt worth 11.

Hopefully there is new ownership by the time Brannstrom, Tkachuk, Chabot etc need to be signed to long term deals because if there isnt it will be more of the same.

I’m so upset.

I think it’s obvious why. Brannstrom would also absolutely tear it up with the Vegas forwards.

Wow a mod making posts like this and as a Canucks fan no less. Gotta love the internet.

We have a bit of a logjam at LD but Wolanin looks like a future top 4 D as well... he is a yr older than Niku but has outproduced him at AHL & NHL level so far. I think he could put up close to 30 pts from the blueline as early as next season. Jaros (LD) and Lajoie (RD) could form a very solid bottom pairing duo, too... Jaros, especially, has #4D upside I believe.... huge, strong, physical & an extremely strong skater

There is no log jam this team wont be competing for a playoff spot before the 2021 season, plenty of time to figure out if a guy can switch to the right side/gives time for players to win spots on the roster. Wolanin says he can do it and has only been playing D for 4 years.

My bad, misremembered one of the rules for a slide year.

No, unless he plays 10 games he will be both exempt and slide a year

See. Julius Honka.

Examples from this year:
Liljegrin
Vaakanainen
Brannstrom
Tolvanen
Probably a few more.

He won't play 10 games unless the Sens are really off their rocker.
