In 5 years this may look genius if they did but there's no way they pass up the 2 centres. And where could they trade down to? I don't think there's anyway he gets past Colorado and I don't see Dallas moving up to take a centre. So a swap with Colorado seems like the only move. I'm guessing Duchene would have to moved out too or it makes no sense.

ESPN as a whole has taken that direction.

Pronman seems to be under the impression NJ will trade back and take Makar based on """sources""", but somehow didn't think it was important to mention that in the title. Pretty obvious he wanted a hot take in the headline to get attention.

Why would Colorado move up for Hischier, particular at the price is likely cost? Even without Duchene, Colorado has young centers in MacKinnon and Jost.

McCagg thinks Heiskanen's the best player, not that he goes #1. Very different things.

There is nothing about this kid to suggest he couldn't go first overall. Wouldn't be at all upset about him being picked.

Other than his lack of size and the fact that he's mediocre at best in his own end? Like, even at the AJHL level? Makar's upside is immense but let's not act like he's not a huge risk at #1OA when there's at least one (really two) sure-bet Centres ahead of him.
