I'm not...Edmunds was drafted to the CHL in 2017, less than a year after relocating to Sweden after playing in Ontario.False. If that were the case, Kingston wouldn't have been able to pick him in the OHL priority selection, and he would have only been eligible through the CHL import draft.
You are trying to split hairs in an effort to not be wrong. Edmonds played his OA season in the OHL (as a domestic player and not an import) and then was drafted a couple months later at age 21.
Like I said, it's not common but happens pretty much every year, and Edmonds definitely is one example from just last year.
You are literally not allowed to enter the draft out of NA as an overaged player from NA. Europeans are allowed to be drafted during and after their 20 year old season, like Edmunds, like Moser, etc.
"How do players even enter the NHL Draft?
To be eligible, players must be 18 years old by Sept. 15 and under 20 years old by Dec. 31 in the draft year. However, non-North American players over 20 years old are eligible. North American players who go undrafted by age 20 are considered to be unrestricted free agents (UFAs)."
Roger is allowed to re-enter because he was selected in his first season eligible, now as a 20 year old is able to re-enter the draft, whereas guys his age that weren't drafted (like Edmunds last year).
Edmunds, being a 20 year old who was considered a Euro player because he played the previous 5 years in Sweden, and has dule-eligibility
