Czechs in North America

Gudas will be our spiritual leader on the third pair. Not even joking. Slegr was like that in 2005. Czechs love their veteran.

No idea who, but a Dman has to surprise at some point kind of like Ivan did, right? Right? who was our last surprise on D? Sustr?
But Šustr was not a very good player. He had physical parameters and..? His advantages more or less end there, and he confirmed it in Pardubice. The NHL is a very specific competition and these types were in demand there. I will much prefer a player like Svozil, although he is a head smaller, but he has a high hockey IQ:nod:

I didn't say he was good.lol

I said he made it to the NHL.. he was undrafted. I can't think of many that have done that. Eg. as a forward, Ivan was undrafted and surprised.

Maybe Kempny, Rutta and Simek?

Nonetheless, need someone to surprise and sneak in a lineup somewhere.. anywhere.lol Kral or Hovorka come to mind.

I know what you meant. But I don't see anything extraordinary about it for some time now. I too had a tendency to favor NHL players for a long time.. Just because they played a few seasons in the league. Even some players on the edge of the lineup. But over time I discovered that it is far from always something remarkable. We assembled the Czech A team here, and a player who sometimes played in the NHL was always ahead of a player from Europe. Today I see it differently. It's just a personal opinion that exactly such players are favored here. Maybe that's a bit outside of this debate. But I feel that it is completely off topic:laugh: Peace for all:D

Yeah I think Rutta is a nice example of that suprise player. Undrafted, came to NHL at age 26, and now 9 years later he is still there. Thats a big achievment for an undrafted player.

Who can be suprise from those we have now? Maybe Tichacek? Galvas (still believe lol), Alscher is doing okay in his first AHL season so far, Hamara maybe ... others (besides D.Jiricek, Svozil, Spacek) are fairly high drafted or expected high drafted prospects - Dvorak, A.Jiricek, Badinka, Mrtka, Dravecky, Byrtus, Kachlir ... so maybe not that many suprises, but a hefty list of names who are expected to make it lol, thats nice

In theory.. we should have 8 to 10 in 5 years... Note I said 'theory' lol

Zacha and Pasta with 3 point nights.. Necas still numero uno in scoring. Radost!
Yeah finally, let's hope they continue like that

On the other hand Chytil was supposed to be day to day and is injured for like 6games already, Vrana seems to be done in Washington

Jiricek had nothing when Cleveland scored 5 damn.

But Zacha, Pasta, Necas amazing, Hronek starting to put up some points more stabile so that's also good.

Oh and of course Buffalo didn't score and we all know what that means sadly lol .. still no points for our young star :D

I counter that with this. Vladar and Mrazek also had great nights. Dostal and Mrazek seem to show up in a lot of top 10 Fancy stats lists for goalies as well. Vanecek was back on the bench!

Chytil is probably okay, and could’ve played like a week ago, but with his history wouldn’t you want to be 100% sure and be as cautious as possible before putting him in another game?

Yeah of course I meant it in the way, that its scary they said its day to day and he is out kinda long, I was getting worried it might me more serious injury again.

Another blank night for the Czechs sigh. Absolutely zero contribution from our top guys.

Chytil, Lauko, Hronek injured.

Vrana won't probably play a game ever again lol

Kulich is now what 14g a 2 points lol?

Love these mornings lol

I feel like Colubmus really f***ed this up.

It's good for Svozil IMO

It's bad for Spacek IMO

I don't see Jiricek playing much in NHL rest of season. I think he goes to Iowa and will miss the World's which will really piss me off

Happy he's in a winning organization though.

The whole scenario is just so damn strange.

Hope they at least give him chance if they aquired him.

As you say, good for Svozil, but not that good since Mateychuk will go first there obviously

And bad for Spacek, cause Jiricek will go first there.

Hoped for trade to different team tbh, but we will see how this pan out

You woke up and shit all over Czech prospects and players all over HF.lol Everywhere I look it's you saying how bad it is.lol

You're not wrong.

Well, he got the call.. Iowa doesn't play for a week so it may be just to practice with the big boys before going back.

I think a best case scenario would be a permanent 13 minutes a night on 5/6 and then opportunities on PP2 or PP1 as the season progresses.

I think the realistic scenario is Iowa unfortunately. They clearly wanted him so it'll be interesting to see where they send him.

Different ages but Broberg took off when given opportunity. Hoping this happens here.

Minnesota may have Lauko, Spacek and Jiricek in a year.. go Wild Go!

Found this funny.. our 3 starters have a higher save perecentage than the 4 nations teams.lol

With Necas in peak peak form we would've had a nice offence.

But Hronek is out. Jiricek is not a full time NHLer. Top pair would've been Gudas-Rutta.lol

I don’t think Czechia would be that much worse than Finland right now.

IDK FInland currently has 16 players in NHL with at least 10 points this year, we have 4 .. plus a Czechboy said we dont have the D at all, we can barely scrape 4 defenders and only one of them has a big role in NHL.

We have great GKs right now, but lack depth in offense, and have close to zero defense

They don’t have the D either. Past Heiskanen they have a bunch of plugs.

We woudl've been competitive. Lot of pride and talented players. Split up Necas and Pasta.. put one with Zacha and the other with Hertl. That's a good top 6. Our bottom 6 guys would've been just fine.

No Hronek would've sunk us though. Jiricek not playing hurts us.

So it would've been

Rutta Gudas
Jiricek Spacek
Svozil Kral
Hovorka?

Massive hole. Finn's would destroy that. I'd say Heiskanen is better than Hronek too. In fact, the Finn's cut Jorkirahu (mispelt).. we will take him!

But we are currently 3D away and hope we have that sorted by 2026. Which we might.. missing 3D may be in the pipeline.

Hronek Gudas
Rutta Jiricek
Svozil Spacek
Kral

in 2 years that may be good... maybe. I have Hronek and Gudas backwards too. Rutta may be done in NHL as well. Then all the place fillers: Hajek, Zboril, Kempny, Dvorak, A. Jiricek, Mrtka, Fibigr, Badinka (who hates us), Galvas (either one.lol). Maybe one of them strikes lightning. I'm skeptical.

I'll end this with PIttsburgh sucks and Kral had 4 points in the AHL this week.. get his ass to the main roster! No offence to Pittsburgh... a very Czech friendly desitnation for 3 decades.

Again in OT for those 2.lol

Pasta up to 27 points in 28 games. He's been cooking lately!

We could legit get a Kaprizov/Kucherov type scenario with Necas and Pasta finishing in Top 10 scoring this season.

Necas is on a heater that may be unsustainable. Pasta is on a cold start but has a lot of proven history of being a top 10 guy and point getter.

Would be nice! So watch them both go cold.lol

Well, I can stop watching Hawk's games for a little while. Mrazek has been awesome all season... this sucks

Szturc had 3 goals in last 2gp in the AHL, great season for him.
He is coming along nicely, Sapo also getting there after the slower start, plus we must take to account he will be more 3/4th line defensive center then scorer. Alscher doing also surprisingly good in Charlotte so far. Sale hit a slump but still 18games and 12 points is good. Hope he gets back in form at WJC.

Still nice transitions from CHL to AHL from multiple our prospects, it's encouraging.
