Gudas will be our spiritual leader on the third pair. Not even joking. Slegr was like that in 2005. Czechs love their veteran.

No idea who, but a Dman has to surprise at some point kind of like Ivan did, right? Right? who was our last surprise on D? Sustr?
But Šustr was not a very good player. He had physical parameters and..? His advantages more or less end there, and he confirmed it in Pardubice. The NHL is a very specific competition and these types were in demand there. I will much prefer a player like Svozil, although he is a head smaller, but he has a high hockey IQ:nod:

I didn't say he was good.lol

I said he made it to the NHL.. he was undrafted. I can't think of many that have done that. Eg. as a forward, Ivan was undrafted and surprised.

Maybe Kempny, Rutta and Simek?

Nonetheless, need someone to surprise and sneak in a lineup somewhere.. anywhere.lol Kral or Hovorka come to mind.

I know what you meant. But I don't see anything extraordinary about it for some time now. I too had a tendency to favor NHL players for a long time.. Just because they played a few seasons in the league. Even some players on the edge of the lineup. But over time I discovered that it is far from always something remarkable. We assembled the Czech A team here, and a player who sometimes played in the NHL was always ahead of a player from Europe. Today I see it differently. It's just a personal opinion that exactly such players are favored here. Maybe that's a bit outside of this debate. But I feel that it is completely off topic:laugh: Peace for all:D

Yeah I think Rutta is a nice example of that suprise player. Undrafted, came to NHL at age 26, and now 9 years later he is still there. Thats a big achievment for an undrafted player.

Who can be suprise from those we have now? Maybe Tichacek? Galvas (still believe lol), Alscher is doing okay in his first AHL season so far, Hamara maybe ... others (besides D.Jiricek, Svozil, Spacek) are fairly high drafted or expected high drafted prospects - Dvorak, A.Jiricek, Badinka, Mrtka, Dravecky, Byrtus, Kachlir ... so maybe not that many suprises, but a hefty list of names who are expected to make it lol, thats nice
