At least some good news regarding czech prospects in past week.

It was a somehow depressing wekk besides that lol. Jiricek and Benak send down to U20 + Jiricek not producing even there.

Galvas also not in Liberec squad today.

Badinka stopped adding games for U20, but I dont see him in the first team either, So I dont know if he Is injured again or what.

Sale not having a single f***in point when his team scored 7 I think lol.

And that sending Down of Rousek to AHL completely pissed me off lol.

Not a very good news was coming around the world regarding czech hockey future in the past few days.

So good to see some good News also. Becher is on fire, Petr Is doing good (So glad for him), Jecho started great etc.

Plus that Novotny goal (15yrs playing for Hradec mens) was a nice event.

So at least something Is going for us. But still kinda depressing week lol.

You said it yourself - it's the 2018-2021 draft classes that are absolutely horrendous. 7 top 100 picks in 2018 and the best we have to show for it is Zadina? Lauko? Dostal? Just pathetic.

Generations 2001 and 2002 are bordering write-off teritory, similiar to what 1998's became. Funny, because the 01's were trending extremely well up until they hit their draft year. Mysak looked like a prodigy...

Hopefully the few flashes we have gotten recently (Silver at WJC, Hlinka) are sign of things to come, especially since both medals were result of great hockey, not of some fortunate bounces or by getting carried by goaltender.

Undrafted Smejkal or 6th rounder Rousek not making the NHL is not bad, dissapointing maybe, but it's the Zadinas, Kauts, Zborils that need to do the heavy lifting instead of busting that hard. Look no further than at Switzerland or Germany, who have only handful of draft picks. But once they get a good prospect, they make it count.

You are exactly right, our top prospects really need to start converting that final last step of becoming NHL regulars. Something that generation around Zadina, Kaut, Mysak etc. seems to be missing very much.

Guys like Blumel, Rousek, Smejkal can only always be a nice suprise if they make it, like Kubalik for example. But it still sucks, I really believed that they can make it this year, they all seemed that they are doing pretty well in the preseason. Well lets just hope we gonna see them in NHL at some point this year.

Great start for him for sure but it’s worth noting that a) Prince George has 8 games while some teams are still at 3 and b) Prince George has 48 goals while the next-best team has 32. Of course Becher has been a huge part of their success, but he’s also in a great situation right now on a very good PG team.

Totally agree, he's in a great spot and benefitting from it. Nice to see though! Our U20 Xmas team is a little shy on forwards that can score so hopefully he can keep his momentum going!

I can't say that I'm surprised in the case of Jiřiček, but I'm angry that no one new made the first team at all. Sad. Actually, more f..k.

Yeah same, I think Jiricek going back is a good thing. Let him dominate and force his way up, I am going to lose it if another once-in-a-decade elite D prospect busts/becomes mediocre defenseman (Klesla, Smid, Kindl.)

But I agree, I did hope somebody new would make it, Ales Stezka was my favorite, maybe Blumel too. And a lot of it is luck based, hopefully they will all get a fair shot eventually.
But as I said above, none of this is all that important in the long run anyway. None of Smejkal, Blumel or Rousek are the missing piece from being an annual medal threat.

Only bright side is that out of those 13 attackers 8 could be considered as top6/elite, but the D is pathetic ... its just Hronek basically at this point lol

We just have to pray to the every possible hockey deity, that the new generation around Kulich, Jiricek borthers, Sale, Benak etc. etc. will pick up the torch and make it and rise up our numbers in NHL finally.

I would say to be a serious thread again you need at least 30 on field full timers in NHL and at least 8 preferably 10 defenders

AHL will maybe be more fun to watch then NHL this year from czech perspective

For Dostal, I thought Gibson was being traded and he was the starter?

For Lauko, that is great news but Zboril didn't make it and no one wanted him for free.

Maybe they had such plans, but they ended up trading Stolarz. Hájek and Zbořil are both lost cases for me. Most likely, neither of them will play regularly in the NHL anymore, players on the edge of the lineup. Nothing that would significantly help us when we put together a team for any championship.
