Hmm that is odd.
Well we will see what happens. Czechs have had many tournaments with up and down games. Meaning one really good game against good opponent, then bad against bad opponent.
We beat Norway and then play well against USA. Don’t think we can win that but hope for good battle.
Hrabal redemption game.

I’d be happy with that.

Radim Rulík is in Gothenburg. I have no idea if this was a planned trip or if he is about to join the coaching staff after the yesterday's disaster. Apparently the goalies' coach of the Czech men's team, Ondřej Pavelec, is there as well. Pehaps it was a trip scheduled before the tournament, unrelated to the last game. But still I hope he would have some speech to the team from his position of the men's team coach.

It was pretty clear after he left the game. Not that he would be the key defenseman (yet), but it is definitely a pity for him. Second injury only in the first half of this season. Such a young player...
He played better than I expected, it was a bit reminiscent of his dominant performance at HGC. He should be a key defender in a year. Hopefully it won't be anything that will sideline him for a long time like his brother David..

Židlický on the roster. Good luck :snide:
Edit: .. and Prčík was even worse than Badinka in the preliminary matches. That lineup is getting literally brutal.

I thought Sale was awful yesterday but I think it's too early to switch up line 1 and replace him with Bares. They benched him last year too. I get the feeling he is a frustrating player to coach and consistency will be his issue going forward. Hope I'm wrong of course.

Slavicek and Metkalarsky are left out.

Just feels like a classic tournament where we all look at the roster and think, this will be good!

Then a injury/decline before it starts (Dvorak)

Then a pregame injury (Port)

Then the annual first game injury (Jiricek.. again)

Then the coaches decisions

By game 2... this roster looks nothing like what we were all discussing in December.lol

I think Kulich now has all the records.lol

We took an ass kicking
We gave an ass kicking

It is better to split up Sale and Kulich?

Day off to rest up and work on

1. the PP is still not the best
2. not taking stupid penalty after stupid penalty

US next.. that was always an expected ass kicking. Curious how it goes? What our lineup will be?

At this point, it doesn't matter much if we win. Our crossover will be Canada/Finland/Sweden almost 100%.

I enjoyed all 3 callups today. Prcik was noticeable. Zidlicky has 'energy' and Galvas was quiet which is good for a 17 year old Dman.

After 2 games.. I have no idea what we are.lol

It is funny because Kulich is the scorer and I think Sale's goals were nicer.

Lucky for us, the Norwegians were tired. It looks like the lineup changes helped, we're moving on.

Some nerd insight.lol

Sale did all that in under 14 minutes of ice.lol

Hamara is our horse.. almost 23 minutes. He's not Jiricek or Svozil but he's pretty good!

Sapo with over 18 I think led the forwards which is normal for him. 2 points too.

Kulich with 4 points and I think 5 points in 2 games.

Cibulka and Alscher around 19 mintues and playing well. Cech over 18 is surprising but I get it.. slow and steady.

Melovsky with a 3 point night! We are lucky to have guys like Rymon, Melovsky and Becher in our 'second 3'.

Koci and Hujer didn't get one shift.

Stancl with barely any minutes at 11,

Galvas with a very respectable 15 minutes. Nice Debut. I maintain the less we notice him, the better he's doing as a 17 year old at U20.

Hrabal with 21 saves and a 95%. I like that they played him. I assume they are riding him all the way to the quarters? Can't see Vondras against US and we have a day off before the Swiss.

I tried to pay a lot of attention to him. Looked really well I thought. Pretty shifty player. Good acceleration from a stand still and thought he had good vision too. Had a nice play at the end where he got out of traffic and had a nice shot.
I can definitely see why he is a 1st round potential player.
Will be interesting to see how he does going forward.

Shame he didnt convert his big chance in the end, but very good debut from him.

Demoted to line 2 and off PP1 to start today's game. Got a hat trick in under 14 minutes.
I am so happy for Eda, hopefully this will kick him up and he will rise in performances from now.

Bit off topic. Czech U17 trashed Finns 6-1 today. I really like this 25,26 draft group.

So many interesting guys in there: Benak, Novotny (although now both with U18 ,but still in this group), Cerny, Zahejsky, Cihar, Mikel, Frolo, Pavlik, Poletin, Pekar and so on. We may be in for a treat in the next few drafts lol, But rather not praise it too hard, so I wont jinx it lol.

I feel like we are well setup for a few years tbh. Some good goalies that should be drafted. Some good D that should be drafted. Some good F's too.

We've had a goalie drafted every year since 2010 (except 2016) and that streak feels safe. We've also had a few years in a row with first rounders and that seemed likely before the tournament began. Not sure if Jiricek's injury will make him drop in the rankings.

Things aren't great but they are improving for sure!

2 Semi's in a row at U20 and a silver at Hlinka... lots of good players around.

Now just fix that f***en Czech junior league so they all don't leave by 17!

Wonder if he gets that 13th goal? Has at least 2 more games to do that.
