Yes, Galvas is definitely the key D-man. I dare to say, the only Czech D-man who can compete with the top notch defensemen in this tournament.
Are Kral and Salda not very good? I know the Leafs took Kral last year and he's apparently a pretty good defenseman. Salda seems to have quite a bit of offense to his game as well.

They are solid for sure, but still, when I look at the Finnish or Swedish defensemen, they are a step above at least.

Zadina - Necas - Kaut

This has to be one of the best lines in the tournament, right? That trio has it all from speed and skill to size and strength.

Well, it's a question if we truly see this line. Personally, I would love to but our coaches tend to like "spread" the skills into more lines.
On paper this line should work though: Zadina - sniper, Necas - playmaker, Kaut - hardworking and defensively responsible.

Varada had Zadina, Chytil, Necas line during U18 if I remember it correctly.

Yes, I believe too. I hope they will have the Kaut - Nečas - Zadina line together. Those guys are monsters at junior hockey level, they can produce really a lot of goals. By the way, I see this as a trend in the NHL too: Many teams have one "big line," which produces the majority of goals for the team, and other three lines have more or less the quest not to allow goals.

So if Safin confirmed to be out of the tournament because of his injury?

Yes, he's out. Showed up and practiced in yellow jersey. Released before Slovakia game. Real shame as he was secondary scoring that could've helped. Eg. I wasn't expecting 10 points from him but if we go with a power line then we could've maybe got a few more goals after that from a guy like Safin/Lauko for instance.

Currently it isn't the biggest loss but if we lose a top guy to injury then the loss gets magnified.

I think it depends on the depth of the roster really. I mean Chicago had Toews and Kane apart and won the cup. Penguins had Malkin and Crosby in different lines too, not to mention Kessel, who was part of the Hagelin - Bonino - Kessel 3rd line. On the other hand rjgbt now you have BOS, AVS or VGK with Marchessault, Karlsson and Smith. But when you rewatch the Stanley cup final, you can see that it was their only line which was capable of generating offense every game. Other lines sucked. Caps had at least top6.

U20 used 3 lines early in the tournament last year and after a few games they formed one good line around Necas.

I agree it depends a lot on the depth - and precisely the depth is the weakness of this Czech roster. 3 excellent forwards, then, say, 2 or 3 very solid, the rest is just average. The same with defensemen: Galvas, then very solid Král, Šalda, maybe Bukač, and the rest can be a problem...

If we had Chytil and safin we could've had a great second line too...

Zadina, necas, kaut
Chytil, safin, lauko

Not sure of everyone's positions and maybe Chytil on 1 but that is the idea.

Pastrnak was released couple years ago, while already established top 6 player on NHL level. I don't see why Chytil couldn't have been released, too.

Not a good sign for the Rangers if 19 y.o. rookie with 12 points in 33 games is already their 1st line forward.

Pastranak was also just coming back from an injury so it was used as a rehab assignment of sorts....Pastranak being sent in that scenario is more of an outlier then anything. Players getting sent from the NHL to the tournament in general is just not a typically what happens barring outside circumstances if they look like they belong in any way at all.

They are developing him so it's a great sign. He started 3rd line with less minutes. Went on a heater for a few weeks and then dropped a bit. They give him PP time and first line minutes and that 12 points will definitely go up. More importantly, he should be a very good 20 to 25 year old which is what they are aiming for!
