Cyberpunk 2077 - New RPG by CD PROJEKT RED

You know all video game developers go on crunch at some point right? Atleast CDPR treats its fans with respect unlike the others outside of maybe Paradox and Indie developers. That right there is worth a purchase from me and reward the people that are going to be busting butt for the next year.

This is just another version of the "yet you participate in society" argument, which is about as lazy as you can get.

Also:

1. The last time I bought a game from those three publishers was 2014 when I bought The Witcher 3.
2. I cited their track record with regards to their employees as a reason I wouldn't pre-order, not buy the game entirely.

And yeah, crunch is a problem in the VG industry, in my opinion, and CDPR is no different in that regard (the fact they had to pinky promise to treat their employees better is a significant red flag).

I actually see CDPR acknowledging it and promising to do better as a good sign, meaning the message is getting through. I might be naive, but I think them at least talking about the change people want to see rather than dodging the question or propping themselves up as progress.

Sometimes crunch time right before delivery is inevitable, but handling it in a manner that is reasonable for people's health seems like a good idea.

All that said, I'm all aboard the hype train! Barring anything crazy, this will probably be a day one GOG purchase for me. Viva la GOG!

Yeah, I believe April 2020 is the pushed back release date to alleviate crunch for the devs.

Original plan was late 2019, but it would have forced the studio into crunch mode to release on time:

Pretty excited after that trailer although I doubt it will end up looking like that.

I have to admit being really bummed that all we got was a lame CG trailer. Lame because they are relics from when the gap between gameplay and CG trailers isn't what it used to be.

To be fair, they did release 45 minutes of game play last year already. So we have a pretty good idea of what it looks like at this point.

Maybe a dumb question, but how NSFW is that video for those of us at....well, work?

Please, let's not pollute this forum with Resetera-level of trash.

Crunch sucks, we all wish it didn't happen. There is no need for anyone to get high'n'mighty over this.

I have no idea what you just said, but fair enough. Didn't mean to derail the thread or anything.

I'm cautiously optimistic at this point. They showed very little actual content at E3 this year, but what they showed better matched the tone and aesthetic I was hoping for from the game. As I've said elsewhere, I want a real Cyberpunk 2020 video game, not Grand Theft Auto: Night City. Fingers crossed it lives up to the Keanu hype.

I am incredibly hyped for this game. The Witcher 3 is my favorite game of all time. It's the only game where the second I finished the story it was like I fell into a well of sadness that there were no more stories or adventures left to go on. CDPR has my trust more than any other developer right now.

I'm not a big vacation guy so I usually have a lot of time saved up. At 33 (at release) I may take off like a Wednesday through the weekend and lock myself in my apartment. I'm so hyped it can't possibly meet it, but I'm sure I'll still love it. Hell, I was crazy hyped for FO4 and, while slightly disappointed, I still played the hell out of it and enjoyed every minute. I'm easy to please for certain types of games I guess. And this is right up my alley.

I'm really interested to see the new gameplay demo. While I marveled at last year's material, a big part of me is unsure as to how all of this can possibly come together in the final package, even if this is CD Projekt Red.

I'm in the same boat with vacations. There's so many games I want to play early next year that I'm thinking I take a vacation in mid April just to play games. On top of Cyberpunk, you have Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, both within a couple weeks of each other. I know Trine 4 got announced for around the same time, there was something else I remember really wanting to play that also got announced around the same time that I'm drawing a blank on right now. I never played FF7 but really liked what I saw in the remaster, but that one will definitely wait for me.
