I’m still a bit confused as to what exactly was disliked about this. Wasn’t almost everything supposed to be privately funded? Did people just think that was too good to be true?

I'll refuse to believe the Coyotes may be relocating, until I see a puck drop in the new city.

Until then they're pretty much locked in if Bettman has any say on the matter.

So I apologize for showing late here, but are these initial reportings pretty much it? I haven't checked in on the AZ saga in a long time, but was hoping to see different results then have seen here so far tonight.
Those totals were all the early votes, the only thing left to count is votes from today and it sounds like there is only roughly 500 of those so yes the numbers tonight are pretty much it.

I believe there is a Plan B. The Coyote fans deserve it. With all the bullshit they've had to put up for so long.
Vegas has proven hockey can prosper in the desert. I truly believe with the right people at the top, Coyotes are not far from a very successful team.
I hope plan B is not moving the franchise. I get that is how the system works but it's still pure bs.

Would the league/franchise have to pay a penalty if they were to say move the franchise this off season in an extreme case?

Gutierrez is going to make a statement. I predict it will be the usual boilerplate.

- We're disappointed, but we respect the voters
- We're going to spend some time considering our options
- We appreciate our local fans and are committed to the market

I’m expecting something similar. Too early to say anything about a plan B (if there is one)

Disappointed in the result but not surprised. Meruelo had 20+ years of baggage to overcome.

There always a breaking point in everything. The big question was always, is there a soft landing spot somewhere that will not make the NHL top brass look stupid? If there one that would make the breaking point easier to reach.

mega-projects always tend to be polarizing
They are, but, I don’t know, feels like given the chance, I’d want to be a major league city in a town that size, but I don’t know how many people saw the Coyotes as that. The talk was that the team wasn’t really a central part of the initiative as it were, which may be why they didn’t put much money into it. Which begs more questions from the league, to me.

Not to be in bad taste, but objectively this doesn't surprise me since claims were made that voting was up from expected AND that the voters were mainly older people. Did people really think that the older crowd in Tempe was activating itself to vote for an entertainment district that most of them would rarely use? I generally don't understand why this is so shocking given the demographic information that was coming out over the past few days. I guess now we find out about the backup site in arz, but I do wonder if this all could have been avoided by guaranteeing the labor to local unions though.

Makes this entire season in mullet look even worse. Makes things harder for their fans. The NHL was ready for this though, they would have to be. Lawyers like Bettman and Daly prepared their contingencies.

I'm sorry to hear it. Again, late to the party, but have been pulling since the Basallie years that they should stay put. Hope Plan B is real.

I have no real idea what the future is, and I have no dog in the fight. As long as the team isn't taking advantage of the taxpayers like they were with the 15M/yr AMF in Glendale, I don't care where they risk their own money.

However, were I a Coyote fan, I would be nervous about 2 things:
- The NHL and the management are going to evaluate what is best for the team in the coming weeks. The inclusion of the NHL in that statement is worrisome

- No mention made of being committed to Arizona
