Interesting look at the business side...

Coyotes players, coach redefine success in the grand plan with tanking, personal goals at odds

theathletic.com/4160133/2023/02/11/coyotes-tanking-college-arena-trades/
AND????

It’s not the real “business” side of things here. It’s referring to rebuilding the roster.

The author wants to inject the notion that a deliberate tank is going on but that’s only a side benefit because the NHL draft lottery odds don’t favor that kind of effort.

Well...Meruelo's bank is in more hot water...as another lawsuit has been filed...

National Merchants Association’s (NMA) Announces Shift in Legal Strategy Against Commercial Bank of California

To quote:

"“We‘ve been able to demonstrate our ongoing case successfully, however, after going through several weeks of depositions and preparing for the trial, we are positive we have more to support our existing case and legal approach,” said Heather Altepeter, CEO, owner and founder of National Merchants Association. “This case goes beyond the National Merchants Association. I aim to put an end to the alleged toxicity, bullying and harassment that encompasses this industry and network of executives.”

The current case against Commercial Bank of California is for for various alleged violations, including:

So your source is a new case, which is in continuation of a previous case that was dismissed?

There is one part that stands out. None of the numbers that are "new".

This BoH.
There IS something in the stale, and "almost" spite of the blog.

New to most all of us, because none of us knew this info. If we did... Well, it was Absolutely never mentioned.
I do not recall ever " seeing/reading" anything posted on personal assets/debts. Etc.

Vetting of the financials?

They hired Beacon Sports Marketing...a group that puts financial institutions, cities, and sports teams together for development deals...not exactly unbiased...

And...because Meruelo is self-reporting...and a private company...Beacon Sports could not truly assess his financials...

Other than that mentioning 2017 suit over his banking side everything there was old stuff to me. This is 2023.

BTW…. Alex Meruelo has brothers in Florida who have been involved with lawsuits regarding real estate there.

Alex isn’t part of that, (I dig some digging there too) but a woman showed up at the Tempe council meeting during the public comments with a big smirk on her face while holding her phone up and tried to make everyone believe he was involved with them.
Oh. I didn't know it w.... Wait what?

So you are saying you had knowledge of all of these other, just brought out, in crappy blog bits of financial information?

I know the year, just didn't know that you know the information before we all did. Including the people, who found it out, good or bad, BEFORE it was released...

That is some good Intel. Like 3, 4 years ahead of time intel.
Don't hold back anymore!! If what is other old stuff to you there, tell us sooner than the people who report it 4 years later do...

"Not exactly unbiased" <-- based on??? Or just an opinion?

But if you would so kindly point the wordage in that document in the link where Beacon Sports says they could not access Meruelo's financial??? Or is that also just your "unbiased" opinion?

I'll wait.

Just look at the history of Beacon, Tampa Bay Lightning and David LeFevre...

Beacon's track record is dubious...as they were involved with the Glendale/IceArizona clowns 'arena management' RFP...and we all know how that turned out...

Exactly the answer expected.

Why would anyone needs to review old threads for something released just a couple days ago ?

Happy Sunday!
You're trying to walk into a situation that's been discussed for more than a decade and expecting that you wouldn't need to inform yourself on what's gone on?

He's right. Very little, if anything, outside of the updated information about the lawsuit and his personal properties were news to me and I've been following it for an undetermined number of years simply because I can't remember at this point how many.

Some of what she said was purely speculative, however other elements were probably based on information from people she talks to combined with information she knows from when she was vice mayor.

While there is probably a lot of truth to some of the things she said, because it does fit with tidbits that have been confirmed over the years, it is speculative, and it is political posturing to get the residents of Tempe to vote no.

That's also why your seeing some in here get their panties is a bunch over what she said, though no more so than usual whenever people bring up certain facts that like to be ignored or have no answer for.

First…. Joyce Clark is not a mayor. She was a vice mayor, which is a rotating title selected by the council members. Tempe does the same thing.

Second…. At this point… her reason for her blogging is two fold. One to show to her own constituents that kicking the Coyotes out was the right thing. And two… to throw all the monkey wenches she can muster into the Coyotes effort into building another arena and music venue in Tempe that will directly compete for events against the one she and Glendale manage.

In short… she’s highly motivated to see the TED proposal fail.

More speculation and innuendo.

Either you have proof or you don’t.

Beacon isn’t the only third party group who vetted Meruelo’s proposal. Tempe hired Dunden and Associates to evaluate the plan as well. Their recommendation was also positive.

Never said anything about their bankruptcy...although they were on the verge...it was more about the $100+ million debt...prior financial 'shenanigans' that involved Beacon Sports, LeFevre and others...and the later lawsuit...

Where's that popcorn?

Llama hates everything Coyote so he wants them to fall apart and be forced to leave..(I'd like to know why such a personal vendetta)

Legend had emotional involvement in the team staying, which depends Meruelo, so he feels a need to support him at all costs.

Neither has much influence on what will actually happen.

My apologies. I have edited it to reflect her as being vice mayor. The rest still applies, including my agreement with you about most of it being ho-hum older news that's trying to sway the vote.

Having said that, regardless of her motivation, there is still a lot that's written there that includes things we talk about here that have no answers for on those of the pro-coyotes side of the aisle.

Um… if Meruelo fails and the team leaves Arizona I’m not going to go and jump off the top of the top of the Chase Building downtown if that’s what you’re implying. After all I was a LA Kings fan for years prior to Wayne Gretzky showing up.

I was actually skeptical when the first details of TED came out. If you remember I said I didn’t want to see another Steve Ellman/Westgate scenario played out here and that time it was beginning to look like another recession might hit and trigger that exact thing.

What’s different (so far) is Meruelo has shown (to me) he is in a much better position than Ellman ever was financially. The question for Tempe voters is… do THEY think it’s enough. Or do they think TED going to be good for their city or not.

No answers for, as in??

(Yeah it’s a loaded question)

I hardly seen anyone talk about the actual documents of the deal itself. This is where I miss someone like 1CasualFan who can translate the legalese contained within them.
