yes, they were...... btw, Golden Seal.... when have the Quebec Remparts ever been a professional franchise, not members of the Hockey Canada/QMJHL/Canadian Juniors systemNot in the slightest.
How quickly we forget about the Nordiques. Try harder.yes, they were...... btw, Golden Seal.... when have the Quebec Remparts ever been a professional franchise, not members of the Hockey Canada/QMJHL/Canadian Juniors system
They'll be waiting forever.. far behind Kansas City & Houston and the NHL will never expand there.Meanwhile, Quebec City patiently waits.
The NHL (Bettman actually) seems more concerned with pumping money into a past bankrupt franchise that’s now playing at a college rink under hilarious conditions, waiting for a magic stadium to be constructed out of the land of imagination and fantasy, the very things the NHL (Bettman) claims they’re against. They'll be waiting forever.. far behind Kansas City & Houston and the NHL will never expand there.
Everyone who’s been following this saga knows what happened to the Nordiques and why their recent attempt to get an expansion franchise didn’t pass the muster. How quickly we forget about the Nordiques. Try harder.
Gutierrez described it as “building a bathtub”. I’m presuming that the excavation will leave the levee on the south side of Rio Salado weaker so they will need to build a pretty robust retaining wall up against it for support.Does anyone know what "re-shoring the Rio Salado riverbed levee" would actually entail?
I remember when just moving the goalposts was enough to cause a ruckus. But there is a possibility Tempe could move the dam west expanding the lake at a later date.
Thanks do you know if that was also done for other new buildings in the area? May be a pretty standard thing but seems like it could be an issue if not handled properly.Gutierrez described it as “building a bathtub”. It wouldn’t matter at this point since there’s no water in that segment of the riverbed (the dam is well east of the site). But there is a possibility Tempe could move the dam west expanding the lake at a later date.
All that of course depend on Sky Harbor not objecting to it because of increased chances of a bird strike (and they have a legitimate claim there)
Westgate 2.0 is a fair comparison. With the major difference in the arena isn’t being built by the city.So are phase 1A and 1B done together or just working on one at a time? If its just one at a time then this is pretty much just Westgate 2.0 correct? Build the arena and a little retail and hope it provides the revenue to do the rest? Also the $40M initial payment is effectively for the land itself and the city doesn't get the money? It would all go to the remediation contractors?

Wow, you snipe even at lame humour.A dam is not a goalpost (nice try anyway).
I can't comment on the Phoenix area but I do live in the Boston suburbs. Our public transit isn't as good as you think it is.Yeah, but people can actually walk to games or take public transit.. That was the most apples to oranges comparison I've ever seen.
The T is adequate if you live in the city. Anyone coming from outside the city limits from anywhere in New England is going to sit in heavy traffic.I can't comment on the Phoenix area but I do live in the Boston suburbs. Our public transit isn't as good as you think it is.
You haven't lived until you've smelled the Green Line at Kenmore after a swampy summer Red Sox game! The T is adequate if you live in the city. Anyone coming from outside the city limits from anywhere in New England is going to sit in heavy traffic.
The fact that it exist means it’s infinitely better than what Phoenix hasI can't comment on the Phoenix area but I do live in the Boston suburbs. Our public transit isn't as good as you think it is.
I have a reputation? (should have used a last post.)Wow, you snipe even at lame humour.
Gotta get that under control and get your earlier reputation back.
I'll take your word for it, I've never been. The fact that it exist means it’s infinitely better than what Phoenix has
Nothing is worse than the smell of the 59th street stop on the 4-5-6 train in NYC in August. Nothing. You haven't lived until you've smelled the Green Line at Kenmore after a swampy summer Red Sox game!
Oh man I grew up in a small farming town in California where there were cattle yards at both ends of town and it never mattered which way the wind blew.Nothing is worse than the smell of the 59th street stop on the 4-5-6 train in NYC in August. Nothing.
Yeah I can relate. Where my Dad lives is So Cal, depending on the direction of the winds, his place is occasionally engulfed in the lovely aroma of chicken shit from some pretty big commercial farm, but I'd still take that over the 59th street subway station in the summer.Oh man I grew up in a small farming town in California where there were cattle yards at both ends of town and it never mattered which way the wind blew.
