This was where I was at, I didn’t think we needed to send an asset with Drysdale for a prospect who was unknown whether he’d even translate to the NHL. Hindsight I’d send an extra 2nd to get him, he’s a stud. I was also fairly high on Drysdale and still think he can put it together, but the clock is definitely ticking.I think it was much more because Drysdale was viewed very highly rather than us undervaluing Gauthier.

I'm cautiously optimistic you are right. Let's hope.I think the improvements Gauthier has made over the course of the season are a great sign moving forward. I think if we can get more talent here next year he will have a breakout season next year
I said this unironically at the dev camp but I can totally see it. He has that aura about him and the hustle in his game is noticeable. Like, the team turned it on after Vatrano's goal but Cutter was the only one hauling ass and fighting every shift. And in dev camp, first of all he didn't even have to go, he was pretty much locked in for a spot this year, but from what I heard it sounded like he was very vocal in the locker room helping younger prospects out with advice and guidance.I can't remember the last duck who was a sniper like Cutter. Selanne I suppose, though his goals typically were more crafty. Perry scored a lot of goals, but many were greasy.
Of all the ducks young players, Cutter strikes me as the guy who is captain material. I know McTavish is discussed in that role, but Cutter seems to have the "it factor" both on and off the ice. Very impressive in media interviews, etc. Carlsson falls in that category as well.
Great to see the ducks young players finishing strong.

I think "okay" is a good way to describe it. He's not bad, he works hard to stay inside when he doesn't have the puck, he doesn't cheat in the defensive zone. I think it helps him to be on a line with defensively reliable players in that way. He's more risky with the puck but I like that. They're a plus line. How would you describe his defensive play?
I know in NCAA he was okay in his own zone and also pretty good on the faceoff but now that he's mostly playing wing and in the NHL I'm curious
This is really interesting.Even strength points:
Michkov - 44
Celebrini - 41
Gauthier - 37
Cutter has now matched Vatrano’s production but has done so playing much, much cleaner defensively. He and Leo will probably take the scoring reins next year. Both of them have seen a lot of growth over the course of the year. I except even more theatrics in the final 3.
I’ve never been this excited about the future of our forward corps. Getz and Perry coming up were exciting but we have 3 or 4 really interesting forwards now with Sennecke int he wings. And Cronin is still playing the vet line more. It’s a joke at this point. When they went down 4-1, Cronin basically gave up. 4th line should not be rotating when you are chasing. Should be rolling 3 lines at that point and use the TV time outs to rest one of the top line.
What does he do , he puts the 4th line out after a TV time out when they are down a goal or two. There has to be an explanation for this. It’s not line matching , that would require actual coaching.
Cronin and Clune have really kept both Leo and Cutter from really breaking out this year. They should be able to get top PP mins with Mac. It’s the perfect combo. Mac can win FO’s get pucks to teamates, Leo can make plays and Cutter can Snipe. Give them two other guys to complement them, and will have a solid PP. But nope.

I’d love to see Mike Sullivan come in as coach, I think he’d do wonders for all our players but I think he’d be really good for guys like McTavish and Zegras who have more to give but might need better coaching to find it.
I think Leo/Cutter might just get there on their own although a better coach would get them there faster.
