Current state of the Boards

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Probably been mentioned by now assuming I'm not alone in experiencing it, but every page on this site hogs a LOT of memory.

Right now, I'm seeing 1.4GB on this tab in Chrome and it's always between 1.2 and 1.5. Basically slows everything down to a crawl (browser-wise) until I close the tab.

...who cares about Post Count??...why does it matter??... :dunno:

I guess some people feel having a lot of posts and/or likes reflects a high level of credibility or a high standing on the site.

Maybe people don't like the idea of having posts they spent time and effort on being lost.

But at the end of the day, I think users and guests on here know who the better posters are and have their favorites and least favorites.

And the posts that were made and lost served their purpose. They were read and engaged with. I don't think people often go back seven or eight months and read through old posts (though I'm sure it does happen). When I used to play NHL '04 or '07 and have killer seasons, I hated deleting them to make space for new seasons. But whether they're saved or not, they happened, and it's not like I'm revieing stats from them anymore anyway.

If all the matter in the universe eventually ends up in black holes, well, the Earth still existed, right?

Hm, that's odd. I know Chrome is a memory hog, since I use it too, but mine is only using 334MB for this site.

184 MB in Firefox, with the only browser extension enabled being a Facebook activity isolation one.

Also just noticed, page (individual HF forum, page, thread, profile, etc) debug info is no longer available, at least not that I can find or fuzz. But maybe it was never intended to be.

Just opened HF in Firefox to check what mine looked like. 94MB on my end there. Interesting. That's just going straight to the main page though. Maybe they fixed it in an update, but I know Chrome had a memory leak issue for a while, so tabs that I left open for some time would build up, making me occasionally have to just restart it.

I'm not sure if any of this is useful information, however.

Your right. Proper working functionality of a community gathering place for people’s thoughts and contributions on shared subjects is such an over reach of expectation.

Not sure why it can’t be said that the place is a technological mess when it, in fact, is.

Demand better in life is what I say. Aim high and don’t be satisfied for dreck and half efforts.

Not even a sponsor. Opinion holds less than zero value.

...then complain about the shyte that needs attention...Post Counts aren't one of them...
I haven’t complained but I have brought them forward as constructive suggestions for improvement.

However, the suggestion box to this place works as well as its post counter feature.

Maybe time for some self reflection instead of acting like this place owes you anything.
Suggesting that a site that doesn’t work properly doesn’t work properly isn’t acting like it owes me anything. It’s pointing out a fact.

I realize that doesn’t fit with the HFBoards Illuminati pov and hurts the feels but …
