Value of: Lafreniere?

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Sure the Habs would make a offer, probably willing to overpay.
Laf would be loved by the fans in MTL.

What would the Rangers asked for him from the Habs ?

This applies to any player...

If they play for 20 minutes, at most they have control of the puck for 1 minute. The other 19 minutes is where good players find ways to contribute and lazy players hide.

He's averaging just over 17 minutes, and has only hit over 17 minutes 3 times in his last 20 games.

It won't happen for many reasons but I would want Guhle. If the Rangers are moving off Lafreniere, it needs to help solve their defensive issues. They need LHD that is no worse than 2nd pair worthy probably similar age/similar change of scenery/etc. Asking for Guhle is obviously shooting the moon, but that's the player on the Habs, that makes the most sense if the Rangers are trying to solve one of their problems. Doesn't make sense to move him for another winger. They aren't going to get good value trading him for a center. They aren't going to want futures. So yeah; similar aged LHD that can partner Fox, or frees up K. Miller to partner Fox.

Guhle? For Laffy? Sure, and we throw in Suzuki as a sweetener. At best, you get Roy and maybe some change...but that won't happen either.

There is this kid called Demidov that needs a center, Guhle would be available for equivilant center, everything else is fantasy. Period.

There is simply ZERO need for Laffy to the Habs. That he is even mentioned is the French factor that plays well with extremely limited segment of fans. Maybe 1%.

I agree with you. That’s one of the first things that I wrote. The Habs won’t, and shouldn’t make that deal. But the Rangers also should not trade Lafreniere if they aren’t getting a difference making/potential difference making LHD either

Lafreniere is exactly what he is. He is a very good 5v5 scorer, and that does count for more than a lot of people in this thread make it out to be. At the same time, he has never been the driving force on his line and while I get the points about the Rangers PP being so good, at some point the player themselves has to force themselves into an opportunity.

That kind of player makes pretty much exactly the $7.5M he does. What is his value in a trade? I have no idea but that's pretty much all a product of not knowing at all what Drury is going or even wants to do.
