Full crowd?

Didn't watch but will replay it later, but I had read days ago they'd be allowed 10,000-12,000 fans. Are you sure they were allowed 100%?

I think Nashville will allow 10,000-12,000 also.

Bruins allow 25%, but approval for 100% on May 29, if still playing. Fenway Park also at 100% on the 29th!
It was 12k, but we packed in the lower bowl to make it look full on tv. The 300 level was maybe 20% full last night.

So will the Canadian team have 0 fans in the stands for 'home ice' and then go down to the US and face a crowd of 12,000 or more?

It's gonna be a real problem when we get to the conference final involving the Canadian team.... is nobody going to be let in again?

I haven't followed the other provinces a whole lot, but I can guarantee there will not be fans in the stands in Toronto this season. Not in any round.

Not trying to be snarky, but what's the point of half capacity if you pack the 50% into 50% of the space?

Guidelines in the states allow fully vaccinated people to no longer need to socially distance or wear a mask in most indoor settings. It is possible that Carolina decided to have the lower bowl be the vaccinated sections and the upper bowl be for fans that have a negative PCR test, but are not vaccinated. It would make it easier for security and others to do their job this way. From what I saw people still had masks, so they may require them in PNC Arena.

If the Rangers were in it, they'd have around 12K as well since NY just changed it's guidelines. The Knicks will be doing that here for the playoffs. I believe the Islanders will have 7K since their building capacity is lower.

Not sure who (state Gov't, NHL, Canes) dictate the capacity, but it really doesn't make sense to go 12K vs. 18K.

North Carolina lifted mask requirements indoors and social distancing requirements so I won't be surprised if it goes to full capacity in the near future.

Yeah none of that happened.

All COVID restrictions were lifted last week in NC. The shot has been available here to anyone over the age of 15 who wants it since April 2nd. We have now reached the point where anyone who got the shot that first week should be done with their 2 week bake since their 2nd to be fully vaccinated. And not only that, but as of yesterday, PNC Arena is fast tracking install of a league mandated air filtration system that should allow us to get to full capacity as soon as possible.

And keep in mind, Wake County, where the Canes play, is going to end up in the middle of one of the most heavily vaccinated areas of the state. Right now we're already sitting at 50% fully vaccinated with upwards of 90% of the at risk population covered. And those numbers are only rising, with it expected to top off around 80-90% fully vaccinated before the end of the year. The chances of that arena becoming a superspreader event are very low.

I think Florida was the best so far and they had fewer fans in the building than Carolina.

At this point it seems to be more about air circulation than social distance.

I had 2 tickets up in the 300 level. My seat numbers were 29 and 30. There were two other people in my row, at the extreme opposite end. Couldn’t see that on TV but it was rather different than what was going on in the lower bowl.

The other thing is there are still large blocks of seats held empty to the sides and back of the benches and penalty boxes.

ever hear of covid-19 ?

Canada is behind wrt to vaccinations so they have to keep social distancing or risk another wave. Hell in Ontario until perhaps yesterday, the socially distanced sport of golf was prohibited.

not that infection rates mean much to a lot of US governors, or meant much. but that is for another day

So only vaccinated people are allowed into the arenas?

I think Florida but I didn't watch more than a few minutes of the Carolina game.
