What would it take to get Crouse to NJ during the summer ? I think he would be a great fit to be Jack Hughes left wing . Great size , physical player , offers jack some protection , score 20+ goals and age wise he fits into their timeline.

The same reasons you want him are the same reasons that Arizona probably wants a haul for him (or to simply keep him)

Something of a unicorn

Not sure it makes much sense for NJ as a trade target tbh

Id say Zacha but the Yotes will probably want futures ?
I am not sure what they would prefer for a positional need. Devils have a surplus of LHD and forward prospects like Foote , Thompson , Zetterlund , Clarke . NHL players - Zacha Johnson Tatar Kuokkanen . Noting too sexy

Picks - anything but our 1sts.

Arizona's GM said Crouse is one of the players he doesn't plan on trading before the trade deadline.

So is this asking about his value in the summer or something? Because that probably depends on how he finishes the season. And needs will depend on if they trade Chychrun and what return they get, along with where the AZ 1st lands.

Miles Wood is basically the same player

If a 1st is unavailable, I'd expect 2 good prospects + a 2nd assuming Crouse is favorable to re-sign or has a deal in place before trade. Something like Foote + Kuokkanen + 2nd + 3rd. Other ARI fans would probably want more but I like Kuokkanen and Foote quite a bit.

I'm not putting Crouse on Hughes' left wing.

Just not a thing that is happening.
Agreed. Devils need someone who will protect Jack, but who can also keep up with Jack and clean up trash in front of the net. Matthew Tkachuk is the answer, but too hard to come by, so someone with a Tkachuk style.

That's a pretty easy pass for me. I mean, that's more than I'd ask as a devils fan for Zacha.

He's having a career season on a really bad team likely playing above his station while nearly doubling his shooting percentage. Nobody should be taking on Crouse with the intent of playing him nearly 18 minutes a night in the top 6

He's getting more opportunity, an extra 4-6m of playtime, and playing with people who can somewhat shoot the puck. Our whole team has been held back by coaching for years. Not sure how much of it was coaching, but seems to be quite a bit. Crouse was drafted in the 1st and has always had that PWF pedigree, he's still young and an RFA, and many GMS and teams have salivated at those types for quite some time. Personally I think we should keep him and that his value to us is higher than to the rest of the league, and for that reason it will take an overpay to get him. Especially when our new GM says he isn't available...considering who else on our team is/was that's probably saying something.

I don't particularly think teams should pay that much, and I'm not sure if Crouse could hang in the top 6, but I think on most teams he could, and is only getting better. So if you want him, you're probably going to have to either deal with the price or move on.

One guy has 1k career hits and the other has 380. Woods not as physical as he used to be . He hasn’t scrapped in awhile . I guess it’s bc he hasn’t faired so well his last few fights

Crouse is overrated by all the dinosaur fans who think hits = good. He's a serviceable middle-6 player that some idiot will pay a ransom for because he's shooting twice his career rate.

Playing him with Jack Hughes is a hilariously bad idea.

Phoenix asks for Mercer.
Mercer who? Dawson Mercer?

I wouldn't trade Dawson Mercer for the Yotes 2022 1st round pick, so Crouse is definitely not in that range.

I project Mercer to be a Claude Giroux'esq player and he's been nothing short of amazing for us this year as a rookie.

On the flip side, I can see Arizona not wanting to move him because he's probably more valuable to them than the return they might get.
