in 2 years from now while he is going to be a UFA, yes! Right now, I have to disagree. A team trying to acquire him now is going to have a legit shot at a cup for the next 3 seasons, sorry but he will not be moved for a late 1st that probably never ends up playing in the NHL anyways, we are better off keeping him!
Disagree, the longer the Pens keep him the longer it will be until they're a good team again, just delaying the pain. Let him go win with his protege in Denver and make Nate the happiest kid on earth, win for everyone

I'd support whatever he wanted to do, he's earned that. If he wants to go to a contender fine, pens kickstart the rebuild and we get to watch him in the playoffs again. If he wants to stay great we watch him retire a penguin and mentor the next wave of young guys.

Every remotely capable player deserves to play meaningful hockey. Any of them not in a playoff picture should demand a trade by TDL. :sarcasm:

Seriously, it should be obvious that for Crosby playing for Pens with Malkin and Letang is meaningful hockey.

I imagine Crosby is content staying with the Penguins to build his legacy there and conserve himself for international tournaments.
I believe this to be true. A "4 Nations win as captain" and then capping off your career with your third olympic gold as captain in 2026 would be right in line with "expectations" for Crosby.

I just wish at that time, the Penguins have a young stud that he can "pass the torch" to like Mario did with him. *cough* McKenna *cough*.

People spent 20 years hating on the Penguins and Crosby and now people wanna act like they're owed him finishing out his career on a different/better team

because there's been 0 reporting to suggest it's a possibility. In fact, there's tons of evidence in support of it never happening. So when people continue to speculate it's pretty f***ing annoying
See!????? 😂😂

I don’t see this though as a hostile suggestion. I’m not a Penguins fan but I don’t see the issue with people wanting one of the goats to be back in the playoffs and not on Kyle Dubas’s island of misfit toys 🫡

Because rarely do fan bases get a player as special as Sid that prioritizes the unique career feat of only playing for one team. The level of loyalty is rare. And because it is so rare, it's special.

The rest of the hockey world has to deal with hockey prostitutes. Not a bad thing as each side gets what they want but...we all know there's an empty feeling afterwards.

Eww. I think you can appreciate Sid without having to take a piss on the rest of the hockey players.

We don’t care. Notice how 99% of the posters making these comments aren’t Pens fans?

Did you think the answer was going to be different than the last 500 times it’s been discussed?

Crosby signed an extension knowing the team wasn’t going anywhere.

I personally would prefer Cal Ritchie as a Blues fan. He was Colorados first pick in 2023. Seems like a guy you would want in a group. But he is a very late first and I’m not sure what his projection is. it kinda maybe makes the deal wonky in my opinion, but if Crosby wakes up and decides “I’m going to Colorado” then what Colorado has is kinda…I hope the penguins like some of it. Whatever they like they’re gonna get - Colorado doesn’t have the pedigree of prospect to say no.
Ritchie is their best prospect and Mikhail Gulyayev is a decent Dman one but one or both of them would be involved if the Avs could swing a trade with the Pens for crosby.

I'd like to see it but frankly it's 99.9% that Crosby is retiring as a Penguin.

Big fan of Crosby but some of the comments the last couple years are over the top. Like I just watched Frank Seravelli claim that Crosby might still be the best player in the world because of one game last night. Or the amount of people I've heard claim he hasn't slowed down at all. Two years ago when Malkin was a ppg and they still had Guentzel Crosby still only had 93 points. If Crosby was still in his prime he'd be putting up 120+ points in today's NHL even with this crappy team.

I have no desire to see legends like Crosby or Ovechkin in another jersey. Luckily the Caps are good. And I can imagine Crosby is content with his accomplishments, and doesn't need to uproot his life to chase another Cup.

He'd likely come to regret if he did.

It would be a fun story for a few weeks, but so few guys at his level play for just one team for their entire pro career,.the narrative could quickly shift to how things got spoiled

It would be a different question if he hadn't already led his team to multiple cups
