I remember hearing about this rule either last year or the year before. It makes sense.

What blew my mind was this though

Insane that the best player of his generation has only played in 1 all-star game in his 10 year career.

yeah but he's only ducked 3. 6 times it's been legit.

3 years Olympics and 3 times legitimately injured.

You are aware that every major professional sports league has an annual all-star game right? I don't know why so many people are so vitriolic in their hatred of what is supposed to be a care free exhibition game of the league's top talent. Its been a part of pro sports since the 1960s, learn to accept it...

I know it's expected, and kids enjoy it so fine, my main objection is the 5 days, way too long.

Crosby was already ruled out of the first game before there was any "ban" or "suspension."

Also:

Yet they still decided to suspend him. If the league was so onboard with his decision, they wouldn't have gone ahead with this fairly drastic step. Also, it's not like Crosby has a strong history of attending these types of events...it hurts your credibility when you continue to find reasons to miss these things.

I mean the proof is in the pudding here. Like I said, it isn't necessarily about the injury...it's the fact that he failed to attend the event.

As much as we would all like a 5 day vacation in the middle of winter...

Any player who is voted to the All-Star game but cannot attend due to injury yet is able to play the game before and after should be investigated.

You don't have to miss the game if you show up for All Star Weekend, even if you don't play. The guy could have signed autographs and hung out if he wanted to play tonight. Johnson did. Sid didn't.

See link above. He wasn't going to play tonight anyways

I haven't seen a clarification on this yet, apologies if I missed it. Is he simply forced to sit the next game out injured or is he suspended (with or without pay)?

Or if he had actually been injured as claimed.

Least gracious superstar in the history of the game.

There is no controversy here. He is getting the standard punishment and he was ruled out of tonight's game nearly a week ago. [mod]

This board is amazing. He is not even practicing with the team and people are still questioning the legitimacy of the injury.

I guess he is not practicing to really sell the lie.:shakehead

Ducksforcup, explain to me how a high ankle sprain, concussion and knee injury were examples of him "looking for a reason to skip".

Are people just going to keep posting nonsense despite what all of the facts say?

The NHL should be grateful or hope Crosby is nothing like me because if I were Crosby id never do another thing to help sell the league the rest of my career Id become like Lynch from the Seattle completely ignore the media and what the league wants

Every chance I got id tell the media and league to screw off and I would love it if Crosby did the same just tell them hes done doing anything for them and tell them to stop using his name for league publicity

Crosby is and has been a poor sport his entire career, so it doesn't surprise that he wasn't there for the sake of the fans and the league.

And yes it's definitely fair. Don't commit the crime if you don't want to serve the time.

He doesn't need the league for anything he has guaranteed 12 yr contract worth over 100 000 000 that no one can take away from him without the league and media he would be just fine

Crosby has done more for the league the last 10 years than anyone else has so if hasn't done anything like you seem to think no one else has either lol

How many times does it need to be said that he was injured? He wouldn't be playing tonight regardless if he was suspended or not. Good god man.
