Have any of the goals against the last few games been with the 3rd pair on the ice? Last night I don’t believe so.
In the last 4, only the WPG game. The other 3 games, no, they haven't.

That said, on the season, here's where they all rank 5v5:

Goals Against / 60 min:
Slavin: 1.67 (10 goals against in 360 min)
Burns: 1.84 (10 goals against in 326 min)
Skjei: 1.91 (12 goals against in 345 min)
Pesce: 2.07 (12 goals against in 347 min)
Chatfield: 2.71 (11 goals against in 243 min)
CDH: 2.98 (8 goals against in 160 min)

Slavin and Burns have faced the toughest competition.
Chatfield and CDH have been extremely sheltered.

We're a quarter of the way through the season and our 4th line doesn't have a goal this year.

Drury, Stepan, Stastny. Yikes.... There's no offensive talent, no guys that are going to out hustle you, out check you, intimidate you, fight you. That 4th line is a gigantic blackhole of nothing. It's like they picked 3 randos to go out there and play hockey together.

Missing the days when we had the likes of McGinn & Foegele on our 4th line. They were guys that constantly out forechecked the opposition, they were high energy players, and had a little bit of offense to them. They were solid role players... When they weren't scoring goals, they were adding other factors to the game.

Jamieson Rees has 13pts in 14 games. I think it's time for us to give him a few games. From the sounds of it, seems like he can be another McGinn/Foegele type player for us. Seems like he's got some snarl to his game with a little bit of offensive upside.

I also think it's time to send Drury back down. I think he looks okay out there. But he still needs more time in the AHL in my mind.
That’s the point I was making about our 4th line having no energy and holding the zone and drawing penalties.

While I agree with what you are saying regarding our current 4th line, I think it's a bit of revisionist history on McGinn and Foegele. They weren't used on the 4th line very much the last 3 years under RBA.

18-19: McGinn's most common 5v5 line mates were Martinook, Svechnikov, Williams and Wallmark. He was mainly used in a 3rd line/2nd role, although he did play a little time on the 4th. He had the 7th most ESTOI. His most common line combo was McGinn-Martinook-Svechnikov (3rd line) followed by McGinn-Aho-Teravainen, followed by McGinn-Staal-Williams.

Foegele as used on the 4th line some that year and the rest of our 4th line was mainly littered with guys like Rask (before the trade), McKegg, Maenalanen, Bishop, and PDG. Foegele had the 9th most ESTOI and his most common usage was with Staal and Williams followed by McKegg and Maenalanen on the 4th line.

19-20: McGinn spent some time on the 4th line, but more time higher in the lineup. His most common line mates were Staal, Martinook, Wallmark and Foegele. He spent 106 min with martinook and Wallmark (4th line), 85 min with Staal and Svech, 70 min with Staal and Foegele, 39 min. with Staal and Williams. He was 9th in ESTOI among forwards.

Foegele's most common line mates were Staal, Svechnikov and Aho. Foegele had the 6th most ESTOI among forwards and his most common line combinations were Foegele-Staal-Svech, then Foegele-Aho-Svech, then Foegele-Staal-McGinn

20-21: McGinn's most common line mates were Aho, Foegele, Martinook and Svechnikov. His most common line was McGinn-Aho-Svechnikov, followed by McGinn-Martinook-Foegele (which at the time was a 3rd line), followed by McGinn-Aho-Teravainen.

Foegele's most common line mates were Staal, Martinook, Nino and McGinn. His most common lines were: Foegele-Staal-Nino, followed by Foegele-Staal-Svechnikov, followed by McGinn-Martinook-Foegele. Foegele had the 6th most ESTOI and McGinn had the 10th, but he was inured and only played 37 games.

Those guys weren't on the 4th line as much as you are are suggesting, they were mainly 3rd line players and 2nd line players and sometimes even higher up the line-up. They were predominately top 9 players for the 3 years under Rod.

What website or websites do you normally use to pull this information from?

Asking so that I can do a little research and maybe not look like a complete dumbass the next I decide to post an over-reactionary hot take.

Meanwhile Eathan Bear has a goal and a assist to help the Canucks beat the Avs in regulation tonight.
I’ll die on the hill of how in the hell did he not at least get a game. I understand his salary was never going to fit in. I’m starting to wonder if he asked for a trade. There’s absolutely no way in hell he’s worse than Chatfield.

He looked really, really bad in preseason and makes 3x what Chatfield does which is entirely too much to have on your third pair or as your #7.

He was rumoured to already want out at the end of last season when he was being sat regularly in favour of Smith.

I wonder how much the Marchment deal affected the end results of this off-season.

It seemed like that was a pretty planned out sure fire thing and when it went sideways maybe it sent them scrambling. He’s the exact type of player lots, myself included, have been wanting them to pickup for a while.

Showed me that the FO recognizes the need for that type of player, the deal just ended up falling through. I also wonder if the Hurricanes aren’t who someone wasn’t alluding to about player tampering.

Before that- hit print- roll up the printout and stuff it in his mouth

I don't blame Brindy for no longer having Young Tro and Nino, but dammit somebody must be blamed.
Yeah but you are randomly assigning blame with zero actual knowledge of the situation. It is irrational and ridiculous.

For all we know Tulsky was slamming the table to bring in (27 points in 18 games) Matthew Tkachuk. Imagine this team with Tkachuk instead of an injured Pacioretty.

It feels like a random attack on intellectualism from a patented ding dong. Surely it must be the smart guy in the room!?!

I would love to be a fly on the wall in the Hurricanes FO. I think Tulsky picks, or advocates for some players, Waddell gets some guys, and Brindy gets some guys. If that’s the case who’s are who’s guys we’ll never know. I do think Martinook was 100% gone if it weren’t for Rod.

Stastny doesn’t scream Tulsky type of player to me. I could totally see Waddell and Rod advocating for a guy like Stastny though. All this is 100% pure speculation and chances are I’m 100% wrong in all of it.

Scouts have some say as well as capologists/futuriists who may well be part of Tulsky's crew. With no inside knowledge whatsoever I don't think DW gets as deeply involved as some think until its time for negotiations with agents and GMs. And then again I could be full as sh*t.

Brock McGinn was our Craig Nettels and we shit on him. Fancy stats are the bane of this organization, We need clutch players with intangible attributes.

Two of the most heavily invested fancy stat teams in the league have won the last three Stanly Cups. Along with coaches and staff that understand how to use and implement that information.

Rod on the other hand doesn’t believe in analytics, and is either to narcissistic or arrogant to use the data that’s right there at his fingertips.

And yet, he has one of the best fancy stat lines in the league with guys we all bemoan using the eye tests.

Must be dumb luck…

I think it’s a combination of the players he’s given, the style of play and him using the eye test. Keep the eye test add in the advanced stuff and by god now you’ve got a stew going. His dismissal of analytics as though it’s some complete egg headed nerd nonsense is fairly arrogant in my opinion. I want a coaching staff and FO that excels at both. Why wouldn’t you want to use all the tools at your disposal to gain every edge possible?
