Filling roster spots can easily be done through free agency and waivers and trades like the ones done in the past offseason. At this stage of a rebuild trade who you can for whatever you can. Arizona is heading in the right direction and can learn from one Oiler mistake - don't deviate from the plan. As somebody on TV once said in the 70s - "The Plan! The Plan!"
You can’t replace Chychrun via FA. I’m not suggesting the Coyotes sacrifice futures to acquire veteran players. I’m suggesting keeping the very young, very good veteran player they already have would be a good idea to help keep the team from being too terrible as Wright breaks in.

I really can't imagine they'd even consider trading Chychrun unless he wants out. That's the only way it should happen.

If that's the case, there had better be a big piece coming back in return. There's no pile of 1st rounders big enough to make sense. You need a young future star player as part of the package, not darts for the draft.
Yep.

Bill Armstrong with a handful of darts:

vs. John Chayka with those same darts:

I have no problem keeping players if there aren't any decent offers for them but if a deal is on the table that meets Arizona's needs they really have to go for it and find another way to get the vets they need for a young roster. And don't forget, guys like Ghost are around for another year.

Should have moved him this off-season with everyone else but, anyways I wonder who would be looking to acquire him. The one name that I can see is NJD with all there young roster players

Offer - Stl:

Perunovich
Husso
Top 10 protected 1st OR Klim Kostin
2nd 2022 if Klim added
Other teams would easily outbid that. The Blues would have to start with at least two of Perunovich, Kostin, Neighbors, and/or Bolduc, our next two 1st round picks, Scandella for cap reasons, and maybe even still need to add in another pick.

As a Sabres fan after witnessing the Sabres poorly managed scorched earth rebuild, and to an extent what the Oilers went through also it's surprising to me that Arizona would potentially subject themselves to the same fate. Years of terrible teams is a tough pill to swallow, and to be fair outside of the expanded playoff year Arizona has been on the outside looking in for almost as long as the Sabres. Having a young #1D is a nice building block, unless he want's out they'd be foolish to trade him. They have tons of draft picks over the next 2 years, and some prospects and young players already.

Unless they trade him for a new arena it just doesn't seem like moving him for more lottery tickets is worth it.

Lafreniere, 1st, Nemeith cap reasons (bury him and save a million?).
Rangers are STACKED with D and D prospects. At least one would have to come back in a trade for Chychrun. Also, why would the Rangers offer a ton for a D?

Something like Chychrun and Dzingle for Scandella, Kostin, Neighbors, and the next two STL 1sts seems right in the ballpark. At least from my perspective. I think Neighbors and Kostin would be particularly appealing to BA because he ran STL's scouting team right up until the draft when they took Neighbors, so obviously he would've been high on BA's list. And he was running the show for the Kostin selection. Add in the Neighbors/Guenther connection, and the fact that every player the Coyotes drafted last year was over six foot, and they seem to want to create a heavy, hard to play against type of team, I think those two fit right in.

It seems like top value, and it is. But those are also two wingers. Not a premium position. #1D is. Obviously AZ could shoot for C and/or D with those two 1sts but the centerpieces are wingers and I think that brings the value in line, somewhat.

I can see Chychrun with the habs but im not sure if it makes sense; He is a young talented D that would fit with a rebuild, but we would have to give out so many other futures that we need for that rebuild that I dont knwo if it'd be worth it.

Would love Chychrun on the Sharks as I'm sure every other team in the league would. I don't think the Sharks have the expendable assets to make a move on him though.

Without a doubt. Everyone can afford him with a bit of finessing. He's a defenceman. Not the same injury concern. Medium term. Young enough for a team in the middle of a rebuild.

Every single team in the NHL would be interested in him. Eichel was maybe 3-5 teams with serious interest.

I would love to see him in Ottawa but the organization would balk at giving Sanderson.
Chychrun has injuries concerns though. Less AAV but also less term. Eichel has a longer history or performing at a higher level so it will definitely be interesting to see what/if something happens.

100% - easy
Looking forward to see what/if a deal goes through.

I wonder if the Canucks would be able to get an attractive enough package from trading off some of their forwards to other teams, keeping some of the return on Miller/Horvat/ maybe Boeser or Pete and sending some of it off to Arizona. Depends on the direction that Rutherford and incoming GM want to take; in my opinion, Horvat and Miller should absolutely be moved for futures.

I wonder if the Senators could get involved, even if they took Sanderson off the block.

2022 1st (presumably top 10) + Ridly Greig + Erik Brannstrom/Jacob Bernard-Docker/Lassi Thomson ++

Maybe they're following the game plan established in the movie Major League. The Owner is trying to kill the club to get them relocated. Loading up for a move to another market; completing a Nordiques-to-Avalanche transformation. :dunno:

Aside from a trade demand, nothing else makes any sense, unless B. Armstrong isn't so high on Chychrun after having watched him up close. You'd think they'd want to avoid sinking further into the abyss...but an improvement from 8th in the division to 5th or 6th doesn't do them any damn good either, if there's no way to scale the next hump.

Every team will want in of course . Not sure what my Devils can offer.
Ty Smith , Zacha , Severson , Holtz , picks etc etc.
No Hughes brothers , Mercer or Nico. Even though Nico should be available he wont be.
No sure if we have enough for what the ask would be. Picks and anyone not named Hughes and Mercer .
