Makes double after the trade and next year, not this year/before trade. Can't say he is a pending UFA and makes double at time of the trade as that doesn't really make sense. He also has like 5 times as many years being a top pairing guy which i think GMs may also value..

Regardless if you actually think that there is no way im going to be able to change your mind so im not going to waste my time.

He was traded for knowing he'd have to be resigned. Therefore people are only bidding for him if

1. It's a one year
2. They have room to sign him for 7+ years on a mega deal.

The first group isn't offering as much and there aren't many teams in the second group.

Demand determines price. Everyone in the NHL can afford chychrun with a bit of finessing. Very few teams could (and want to) sign Jones to a deal like that.

I agree there's no way to change your mind. I can't tell if you're just not able to appreciate chychrun or the significance of his contract. Either way one year of Jones + his new contract is not as valuable as 3 years of chychrun under 5 mil.

I think Arizona will listen to all suggestions. The team will choose the best bet.

I think the greatest chances of winning are:
- the teams that are candidates for the Stanley Cup.
- the teams have the necessary resources.
If there is no good offer, the player stays in Arizona.

I think Arizona's possible success looks like this:
Florida Panthers - Anton Lundell +1st 2023 ++
Colorado Avalanche - Alex Newhook + 1st 2023 ++
Washington Capitals - Connor Mcmichael + Hendrix Lapierre +
Los Angeles Kings - Alex Turcotte + 1st 2022 ++
Ottawa Senators - Jake Sanderson + 1st 2022 +
Edmonton Oilers - Broberg + Holloway +

(@ 50% ret) = 1st (or equivalent) + 2nd. Arizona has taken into account the wholesale discount.

Chychrun for

Ritchie
Holl
1st
Robertson
Amirov

As leaf fan i would hope leafs would put some kind of condition on the 1st round pick (something along the lines of making it past the second round of the playoffs) Also if ARI wants a defensemen prospect instead of 2 forwards one swap Robertson for Liljegren (Although i know some don't consider Liliegren a top prospect anymore even though hes only 22)

Seems like a lot and its hurts giving this much up but it would cost something like this to get a player like Chychrun

EDIT: Can he play the right side? Otherwise i think the leafs will stay away Rielly is playing some his best hockey on the left and Muzzin cant play the right either

If nothing else in the 19 pages this thread continues to show how delusional the majority of Leaf fans are.

Ritchie and Holl both make it through waivers at this point. If they wouldnt, you’re looking at a 4th round pick at best for either.

The 1st rounder is likely to be very late 20th-30th in a draft not considered super deep like other drafts.

Robertson has failed to stick with the team and has not even been one of the first 5 callups this year.

Amirov has flown under the radar and could turn into one of the more productive picks of his draft but that remains to be seen.

Every other team beats this and the other junk proposals by a mile.

Amirov, Niemela, Sandin, 1sts with no conditions… these would be pieces in the discussion and even then its doubtful the package is enough.

Leafs prospects are definitely the most inflated in this thread.

If the offer for Chyrchun doesn't hurt, then it's not a good enough offer.

The winning team will feel it.

I don’t see Arizona retaining… could see some cap going in. Only one spot available and got to think it will be used to get Kessel down.

In general, is Arizona looking for picks or prospects? Got to think with all the firsts theyll eventually want to transform them into good players to help bring up the next generation…

not defending the offer but for salary cap reasons the leafs and many other teams need to send cap back. This offer is really Robertson, Amirov and a 1st with Holl and Ritchie to balance the cap. Ideally if the leafs are sending players the other way to balance the cap coyotes probably prefer they have one year on their contract.

This is the exact player that L.A needs.

- Fits their biggest hole as a 1st pairing left shot offensive defenseman with size.
- Is 23 and can play 23 plus minutes a night. This means he can run the PP and pair with Drew on the top pairing.
- Drew is aging and this helps at only 23 Chychrun eases the transition between Drew as he ages and Clarke as he enters the league.
- Chychrun will still be in his prime as Doughty ages out and Clarke takes his place on the top pairing.
- Would be a huge boost to our PP. I love Doughty but Chychrun is much more offensive minded.

L.A has a massive prospect pool that is stuffed with centers and right shot defenseman.
We should have another lottery pick in the next draft.
It would suck but we could use an NHL ready young dman like Bjornfot or Anderson to help replace Chychruns minutes.
We don't need Arizona to retain salary.

Get it done Blake.
