Thanks :)

Know how they 'decide' what's a HDSC?
Not quite, it's probably imperfect but I think it's definitely very good that the Rangers are at the top. Something like this:

He's just throwing shade at Nash without actually saying Nash's name. Nothing new there

well now, isnt that a sharp take.

of course im not doing that :naughty:

look, the nash fanboy circus is out in force already, i get it.

its early, i get that too, unless you've been watching him for the last oh, i dont know, 100 games or so....... news flash, he's still that rick nash.

spread the word, the 8 million dollar man is trying hard and breaking up two on ones like a boss with his slick stick and playing some really snazzy defense and stuff. "did you see slick rick nash bust his behind getting back on that odd man rush ?, this guy is all business so far this season"....

he's got 1 goal so far. ONE plus his weekly spoon fed empty netter - i know, i know, "they all count" and "oh, so now scoring an empty netter doesnt count the same, huh ? ".... so he's on pace for another terrific season of maybe 20 goals including, scoring the all important 5th goal in a 5-1 blowout, gift goals awarded by the zebras for trying and the all important empty netter to make it 4-2.

he's got 3 total points in 6 games and a nifty -3... wait, what ? this is the "best defensive forward on the team" were talking about here ???? and you mean to tell me he's got a team worst +/- ? cant be true. and before you say it, i know, its early and small sample blah blah blah. still, numbers dont fib.

oh yeah, i know, "match ups", "tough assignments" and his "line mates are making his numbers look bad". its not him though, nope, he's solid. solid 3rd liner production guy who gets top line minutes. thats what he is.

hey, mike grabner has the same slash line so far but a better +/- michael freekin grabner

even eric staal, the guy who "cant play hockey anymore" has more goals. more points and a better +/- than does the 8 million dollar gifted one.

can you say

Loving what Nash is doing so far this season.

and for the record, i concur.

he's doing exactly what a good, solid 3rd line player would do.

good defense, killing penalties, not playing much pp and chipping in a few here and there

now that whole "value" thing......

Yeah, lots of third liners out there in the league creating as many scoring chances as Rick Nash. Yep. For sure

Stepan's a third line? And how many is "a few here and there"?

Hard to disagree with MH on this. Hayes' line hasn't been generating offense or inflicting any sustained pressure on the O-zone. It's been the first 2 lines and at times the 4th line that have created all the offense. The 3rd line has been MIA. Hayes has pretty much sucked.

Still think it's because fast should not be on that line. Gotta get one more skater like Hagelin

We're judging Nash on assists now? And still using plus/minus? At a sample size this low, this is more bad luck than anything. This especially considering when he's on the ice the Rangers are dominating in shot attempts. I'd imagine this evens itself out by game 10 pretty effectively if Nash keeps this up. But you keep doing your thing and hating.

Speaking of empty net goals. Does anyone have a link towards a stat that shows either season by season or career empty net goals for our Rangers players?

oh..... hmmmm, the "bad luck" card has officially been played. touche.

so creating scoring chances- as you mentioned, that are not showing up on the score sheet should be counted anyway ?

if im creating scoring chances, then some of those chances should be converted. yes ?

we've converted many, as we've scored goals so far, yet of all those goals, and all those scoring chances created - your words, he's got 1 assist.

got it.

Rick Nash has 2 goals and 1 assist so far. 3 points in 6 games. If he gets 30 goals and only has 15 assists, thats fine. We have enough play makers on this team.

If you're gonna do this after ever single game in which Nash doesn't register a goal, take it to his discussion thread. We get it.

you kidding me, if he gets 30 goals and 15 assists, i would be ecstatic.

30 goals from nash and this team is solid.

18 goals and maybe 12 assists ?

I don't understand why you're completely ignoring that two of his shots have gone in. One was an empty netter, great, discount that.

You're also completely discrediting luck, which is hilarious considering I believe heavily in advanced stats and believe in luck, but you do not. Just a funny two-sides to every coin thing, here.

The thing about luck, is that it has a tendency to change. If Nash continues to play as he is playing, his point totals will continue to go up.

"Creating scoring chances" refers to creating them for himself (by either making the play or being the recipient of the play) or creating them for others (assists, as you are so keen to continue pointing out).

It's been 6 games, and he's got 2 goals. That's a 27 goal pace. Considering you had him pegged at 15 before the season starts, maybe chill out a bit on the hate? Maybe let a few more games go by and see what happens.

Or we can keep talking about +/-.
