I don’t have much hope for this season. As it stands, our 2nd line plays first line, our 3rd and 4 th liners play 2nd line, etc. We have Chychrun. The entire rest of the D corps is TBD. How anyone can expect a playoff team with this mix is beyond me.
With this mix? It's far from the start of next season, so I think I would wait a few months before making predictions.

The new division has 3 teams that finished above them and 3 better teams replacing those that finished below them.
That was last year, things change. We have no idea who will be on those teams next year, let alone ours. I would rather our team be a Montreal or a NYI or a Jet than a Maple Leaf.

I'd take the Jets out of those 4. Good tough team who gives an honest effort. Need a few additions now though after losing some key D in last few years.

DeBrusk as a reclamation project while only taking on Moore is a best case scenario. Only on the hook for Moore's 2.25m after next year.

Boston doesn’t have bad contracts. These two are the closest they have. I guess maybe throw in Fischer if they want him? Not sure how else to get it done?

Put Kuemper in for their 1st or a 2nd and Vaak.

Boston gets to solve two problems before FA and look like they're proactive for basically no cost to them other than cap. Even then, Kuemper is a great deal. BA gets to say he got a pick, prospect, and roster player back.

DeBrusk is owed almost $5m cash his last year, so that's kind of a bummer, but Kuemper offsets that.

What happened to Tuukka?

Hip injury and decline. Most Boston bloggers want him gone or back at reduced pay. And they need someone to hold things down until Swayman is ready to start.

Ah. Cool. Yeah. That works. I’d prefer Vaakanainen and that 2nd over the 1st. But I’d prefer Lauzon over either option.

OEL, Kuemper(30% retained) and Fischer for Lauzon, DeBrusk and Moore would suit me fine.

The money is a nightmare once you sign Garland at $6m to hit that $68m supposed budget. I have no idea how BA is going to do it. It's not easy even with Jenik, Hayton, and Soderstrom up.

My point being is just because you aren't first, or have the talent on ice and paper doesn't mean you can't win in the playoffs. The challenge will be to get there. We see upsets every year.

Where do you get this budget # from?

It’s speculation from Morgan. Though, I think more accurately the speculation would be 68.25m-71.5m, which is 5-10% greater than 65m, which apparently was the budget last year. Keep in mind, this is cash not cap. Our aav was way, way higher than that, and likely will be again.

We’ll acquire guys on the back-half of front-loaded deals, in exchange for guys in the back-half of back-loaded deals. Then we’ll sign new guys to back-loaded deals. It’s the Coyote way.

Get your barf bag out. That’s much better then I expect.
Then BA better not unpack his bags. He is going go give his inexperienced, cheap coach FA to work with. You can't trade off your better players and get crap in return and expect to be successful.

You can’t spend 15.41% of your entire player budget on a single, declining, malcontent, 2nd pairing D who’s lost his fire and needs to be stripped of his captaincy and expect to be successful.

There are MUCH more impactful ways to spend the 32 million in cash he’s due over the next three years.

Plus, they need to change the culture. Stepan and Tocchet were great first steps. OEL is the next, most logical, and last renaming critical piece to remove from the team.

You’re all going to fight me on the fact that he’s worthless. Then when he gets traded for basically nothing, you’re all going to realize your just glad he’s gone. Especially a year from now when the dumps we ate expire and we can sign a meaningful UFA we actually like that can actually help us win.

Then BA should be fired for not trading OEL last year with the offers he got.
