Would Avs be interested in something around Garland for Newhook? That's the type of trade I would be looking for. If he wants 5-6m that's still cheaper than them replacing someone like Saad in FA.
Would have to be a Krebs or Newhook type of C prospect that’s ready next season and had a really high ceiling. Otherwise, pay Garland and trade Keller. I’d be less picky on the Keller return. Especially if we can sign Schwartz to replace Keller.

There is absolutely no excuse to even remotely even consider trading Garland. If we trade Garland for picks it’s an automatic loss.

This would be something the Coyotes would do though. A joke of a franchise doing exactly these type of things.

It looks like management hasn't asked OEL to waive and Oliver hasn't requested... yet! If we keep him, I want to go hard after Adam Larsson.

Thought about a Domi - Schmaltz - Garland line (short), only seems fitting that Tocchet ends up in Columbus, we trade them Kessel for Domi, well at least it fits for the Coyotes.

I still like the idea of trading for Johansen @ 70%. We do lack right hand shots. Decent size, 2-way center, could click with Keller. Just overpaid like OEL.

I'm not expecting Bunting to return.

I think you are putting the cart before the horse. As far as I'm concerned we have no untouchables on this team.

Adam Larsson is most likely staying in Edmonton according to Friedman. I don’t see any reason why Bunting wouldn’t come back, unless he has a ridiculous offer

Not against Johansen and he plays great in the playoffs, but I might take a chance with Patrick instead. Mind you, we already have Hayton trying to figure out his game.

I agree. Bunting if far from a sure thing.

AL - he ain't signed until he signs
Bunting: I just don't see any real reason what would keep him here. He will be looking for a 1-way and with the expansion draft there will be openings.

I've already given up on Hayton. JJ, I'd think he'll stick. Johansen is a righty and could play RW if need be. Keller with Johansen could work.

I wonder if a Jenik-Schmaltz-Garland line would work with Jenik taking a majority of face-offs

Well yeah - Larsson isn’t officially off the table, but when one of the most respected hockey insiders says a deal is close, you can probably assume it’s going to happen. When it comes to Bunting, I’m inclined to think both sides will go with the “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” mentality. Bunting has earned his spot on this roster, if he decides to sign elsewhere he’s going to have to do it all over again. The Coyotes will probably lock him up on a bridge deal “prove it” contract, that’s my guess.

What about trading Garland for a couple of high end center or D prospects? That makes a lot of sense to me. A rebuild usually keeps players of Garland’s age as place holders, right? He’ll be past his prime at the end of the rebuild.

Guessing the upcoming expansion draft plays a role in why he isn't "signed". Expect to see a few deals announced right after draft.

Bunting will probably get a one way with the Coyotes.
