If I told you my aunt, uncle, brother, sister, mother, father etc. passed away from whatever disease you can think of, you would probably tell me "I'm so sorry to hear that, I'm so sorry for your loss". Then you'd forget about the fact that they passed away a day later but most likely in 5-10 minutes.

This is what bothers me the most - people acting like they give a flying f*** about people they don't know about. You don't care about my family - but you'll tell everyone that you care for the rest of your countrymen.

It's not just you, it's a lot of people who insist that people are being selfish for looking out for their own best interests. Newsflash - you and the people around you are the only ones that care about you, unless someone is getting paid to. It's a cold world.

I'm sure I'll get responses telling me I'm a "psychopath" because they want to virtue signal and tell people that they care about every single person who dies - young and old. But when anyone brings up suicide rates, obesity, starvation... hell, the common f***ing flu etc. no one wants to hear it. COVID is just the newest thing for people to virtue signal for, the majority of people wouldn't/don't advocate for other "preventable" deaths but it makes them feel like they're doing something when they tell people to "stay home"

That was cathartic to read. You get it.

Sure, I'll say it. It's sociopathic to think that people caring about their fellow humans is "virtue signaling". Jesus Christ.

The difference between covid and most causes of deaths is that vivid is a highly contagious disease, so you can't just care about yourself, you need to care about your community to stop its spread. Staying home isn't virtue signalling, it's the bare minimum to being a good person during a pandemic.

I deal with a tonne of data everyday and I try not to actually absorb it, analyze it yes, absorb it no, but occasionally I do and every time I see a deceased date it makes me sad.
I don't know these people from Adam, but when it is a child it, at times, brings tears to my eyes.
Obviously, we get over it but it for some people death is not just a number.

I'd like the details on this ...

Government financial support pushes Canadian insolvencies to lowest level in 20 years

Hmmmm...surprising. Not sustainable at all but surprising. Gotta see those numbers to believe them. Does not match at all what the CFIB is saying (quite the opposite).

Because CFIB is a lobbyist group that has a vested interest in opening everything up in Canada and easing covid restrictions

If I had to guess the disparity would come from the difference in self-reported "closures" vs. true insolvency. Between the financial supports and sound business planning I think that a lot of small business owners will have been "forced to close" but still preserved a lot of the capital.

People pretending to care. *

As a member of the CFIB... yeah. We end up voting against at least half of the (pre-pandemic) issues they want to put forward- so narrow minded. They did tremendous work pushing for proper CEWS and CEBA though.

When you give complex multilayered data to a simple mind you get a simple conclusion. For example what if a person suffered from severe anxiety and OCD and took their life during this pandemic? Not because of the lock down rules but because there was a deadly virus spreading through the world? A simple mind would see this suicide and then think hey it's because of the lockdown rules because that simple mind needs to justify his/her simple and incorrect narrative. Prior to the pandemic suicides among people under the age of 25 were up 60% over a ten year period, were there any locks downs then? No? Some people say social media is the root cause for so many suicides among the younger generation. Perhaps that generation has more times on their hands, therefore more opportunity to get bullied online?

When I was in my early teens, two kids who were in my social circle killed themselves in a short period of time. One hung himself the other shot himself. I think we can both agree suicide comes from a person who is suffering from some sort of mental illness or mental distress. I do feel for those that are suffering from a mental illness and I pray they get the profession help they require before going down that road. It's not the lockdowns that are causing suicides, its the lack of coping skills or mental illness that is driving this.

So Flu = Covid-19 in your opinion?
No, Flu is actually 10 times more deadly than Covid in children even with a vaccine and without mass testing with an inaccurate test.

Kids should be in school, and should be participating in their activities. As I type this my son is putting on his baseball gear and we are heading to play a jamboree against three other high schools.
The reason they allow this is because health experts have deemed it to be safe and a very low risk event. Fans will sit apart from one another and wear a mask in common areas.

Not allowing kids that opportunity is abuse.

If no one cares for you at all, do you even exist?
