So why days of vulgar rumors involving an 18 year-old teammate's mother? Perry and the Blackhawks could have quashed them far earlier.

Because Perry did something that was about to get him fired from his job and potentially end his NHL career. He might not have been putting the base desires of the internet mob at the top of his list.

This whole thing has turned into a joke. There is nothing wrong with Perry having sex with another player's mother. There is nothing wrong with Perry having sex with a Black Hawk employee. So what exactly has he done if there are no criminal charges?
Educated guess is neither of those things

Maybe he pulled out his hotdog, and tried to put it in the wrong bun.

If it's alcoholism feeding a mental issue, it could be almost anything, but if you're having a hard time imagining what the possibilities could be, imagine showing up to work completely blitzed. That's often enough to get anyone terminated.

Saying "I have an addiction" is just another form of "Well, I was drunk" in trying to shift the blame away from yourself. "It wasn't me, it was the addiction. It wasn't me, it was the alcohol." No, it was you who f***ed up.
Maybe for some.

People who have lifelong addiction, and probably mental health issues (both of which are incurable and lifelong struggles that you simply try to manage as best you can) it's just not like that and you shouldn't judge a person who struggles with that, and yet it's ok to judge because they should do better. They know it and you know it. But don't dismiss it like that...........

The rumour I heard involved a female employee who is very well known in the Blackhawks organization and if it’s true there’s a great chance she asked for them not to comment more on what happen so she can continue to focus on her career and not be at the center of media attention from what happened.
...and Perry is very lucky to avoid a major beat down by her Dad.

Like I said before, not criminal but gone like that makes you wonder about racism, sexism, or something ending in phobic.

Nothing wrong with people wondering what happened.

Alcohol is involved in half the crap that ever happens so no surprise. Involves an employee.

Perry was drunk and got out of line with an employee but didn't do enough to warrant getting charged. The employee doesn't want to go public with it.

Could be dead wrong but reasonable, especially part about employee not wanting to go public.

So done.

Perry is near the end of his career anyway. He's talking as if he still has years to go.

I wonder if any team picks him up after this.

It isn't all that hard to speculate and probably come to a close conclusion as to what happened. He drank a lot, has had an issue with this apparently and is realizing this. He most likely got smashed, hit on the WRONG person (we can guess it is an employee with ties to management) or slept with the wrong person's wife. If he just was drinking they wouldn't be saying things like how "disgusting" of an event it was. Something bothersome happened, and I would say it is beyond getting drunk and getting in a fight. It isn't illegal so it isn't rape or assault by the sounds of it, and I think the Hawks would make sure that doesn't get swept under the rug again. Anyway, that is my guess, it involved a woman and a drunken (possible) one-night stand and the person whose wife it is might have a lot of pull.

The reality of the situation could be - and I emphasize the word "could" - is that it isn't nearly as bad as we think and the Hawks are going out of their way to make up for the Beach situation. In other words it is possible what Perry did would just be shrugged at by 31 other NHL teams and he'd get nothing more than a wag of the finger. The Hawks have an image to clean up so maybe they are making an example in order to look like the good guys.

Or it is the thing I mentioned in the first paragraph.
