Is there a football/basketball version of HFboards? I would love to see people’s opinions when those guys commit actual crimes and are CHARGED criminally and still get to continue to play. The rumour I heard involved a female employee who is very well known in the Blackhawks organization and if it’s true there’s a great chance she asked for them not to comment more on what happen so she can continue to focus on her career and not be at the center of media attention from what happened.

The are literally sweeping another incident under the rug..

You can't hide the truth forever and if it was misconduct with an employee then
A)They let it slide and the victim receives nothing
B)It becomes public and we find out anyways or
C)They paid off the victim

Someone paint a picture for me of the situation where the Blackhawks actually did the right thing. Go wild with your imagination.

There’s more than enough facts released already to understand the basic idea of what happened(Perry did something foolish under the influence and clearly has an addiction that he’s seeking help for), and any further info/details sought by whoever might be patrolling the forums and blogs on social media is just pointless and only goes to serve the selfish desires of their own personal agendas towards the Blackhawks in general.

I get in comparison NHL players are typically more likely to be "model citizens" compared to other sports leagues, but there is still an issue in the community regarding bigotry, substance and domestic abuse, etc. If one truly cares about the league, they will want to see players be held accountable, and for more progressive changes to the league as a whole.

What really grinds my gears is that drug abuse, alcohol abuse come from the line of work these men are doing and the NHL and all of its owners know it. These men should take responsibility for their actions I believe that.

But the NHL is a money maker first and foremost for conglomerates who pray in human beings for their power and wealth and THEY TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY ever.

The Blackhawks already said it involved an employee. If he was drunk, and they’re keeping things private, you can probably make an educated guess of whats most likely.
Not exactly.

If it "involved an employee" but there are no criminal charges/investigation, then that rules out of sexual abuse/harassment.

If it was consensual with said employee, then it raises the question of why its deemed serious enough to terminate Perry's contract. Especially since it supposedly doesnt "involve any other teammates".

This is a very sensible post, IMO

‘Not criminal’ simply means it doesn’t rise to the level of criminal charges. A Blackhawks employee doesn't go to the police and say ‘I was creeped out and felt unsafe’, they go to their employer.

The victim in this case may not feel that Perry belongs in jail for what he did, but thats a far cry from feeling safe working with him.

They literally said he did nothing criminal. Do you really think after the backlash they received over how they handled the Beach situation they would make a statement and out and out lie? The league 100% knows what he did and there’s also most likely many people in the media that know as well. With their history if they made a statement straight up lying someone would have came out by now wanting to be the first to break the story. They fired him and handled it in house where they should, if you care so much about the victim did you ever think maybe they requested them not to go public with details? We aren’t entitled to know everything that goes on

It's a PR stunt, we've seen it how many times with athletes now ? They do something stupid and to try and save face resort to "addiction" He's always been one of the most hated guys in the entire league, i'm not buying this addiction nonsense. He obviously did something horrible and just to somewhat try and save his image, they're using this as an excuse.

In the thread in the other forum I predicted it was only a matter of time before he came out with some statement about going rehab. It is the standard order of things like this. However, that doesn't mean it's also not true.

In spite of what a POS he is on the ice, Perry is 38 years old and has been in the league for almost 20 years without any kind of incident like this. So either the Ducks and other franchises put up with that kind of behavior from him and are fantastic at keeping things quiet, or this was something out of the ordinary for him. Which would line up with mental health/substance abuse issues.

They're sweeping it under the rug by immediately addressing it, removing the problem and releasing a statement that receives significant media coverage.

I've been relentless regarding the Blackhawks with the Kyle Beach situation but with this they:

pulled Perry out of the lineup as soon as they heard about it
performed an internal investigation
notified HR, the NHL, and NHLPA about it
terminated Perry's contract

It couldn't be more different from the Brad Aldrich cover up. People just seem to be throwing tantrums because they haven't told what Perry did.

So I hope people that needlessly accused him of an inappropriate relationship with someone's mom feel like shit right now. What a d-bag thing to accuse him of with no evidence at all (clearly). I feel sickened by this.

The morons that accused him of that nonsense arent smart enough to feel bad for it. They lack the requisite brain cells to form an original thought.

definitely out of the ordinary. in all his years with the ducks there were never any off-ice incidents (that we know of) involving him. by all accounts he's a pretty introverted guy as well which makes this even more surprising. he's never been the party type or anything like that

Think of the stupidest thing you could do/say while totally wasted beyond reason short of criminality in front of someone that probably writes your checks and not necessarily only once. That's probably all you need to know. Glad he's getting help. It's a lifelong battle with no cure. Hope he sticks to it.

without knowing what he did exactly, its hard to form an opinion. But I just want to remind that the victim is definitely whomever he advanced toward, it could have lifelong impact to this victim, again, dont know what he did. Corey Perry, they did an investigation and concluded that he deserves his termination. Stop feeling sorry for the guy.

This statement is a necessity towards ANY future employment, in front offices, or in locker rooms, he does not get any credit for releasing it. In this day and age, if you underestimate the factual power of public opinion, I hate to say it, but its futile, it factors into a lot of decisions. Whether its criminal or not matters little, hes a public figure, his organisation is already tainted, whatever he did hurt his organisation and his future employability. He done screw up, whether hes actualyl contrite or not, never know... but move on.

My guess is that he said something stupid to the team or coaches. I don't think this is as bad as some people are wanting it to be. I also doubt Corey Perry is an alcoholic, so using that as an excuse is pretty lame in my honest opinion.
