No extra time is baffling to me.
As a Canadian fan that hasn't actually watched much CONEMBOL, the federation has better teams, but it appears no better organized than CONCACAF, which is saying a lot, lol.
And as a Canadian fan, I'm perfectly happy with the results - It's tournament football in a group with Argentina - you play to go through, especially when other teams melt down with red cards in front of you.
I'd have preferred much better performances, especially in the first half of the Peru game, but at the end of the day this is the best major tournament result in the nations history, and probably the best tournament showing overall outside of the gold cup win - It's Canada soccer: beggars can't be choosers.
Another massive positive is seeing the US and Mexico completely melt down in comparison - For Canada to keep their nerve while their biggest rivals get grouped has to be seen as a massive step forward.
There's nothing more Canadian than comparing ourselves to the States, and thinking being a touch better than makes our performance outstanding.
